Quito a number of ladies attended
the meeting of Woman’s Miss. Soci
ety Dublin Dist., held at Wrens the
11 tli and 12th inst, and report the
best meeting ever. The hospitality
of Wrens was in keeping with the
occasion. Bartow invited the meet
ing here for 1024, and the imitation
was accepted.
Mrs- ('lark Thomas entertained
about 18 little folks the oth inst. in
honor of her children’s birthdays
Master Billie was 4 years the 7th
inst, and Bettic and Virginia were
.‘Wears the oth. Three little pink
cakes with four and three pink can
dles, adorned the snowy table. There
were pink flowers, pink and white
dishes of candy, vanilla milk shake,
pink jello and cream and cake.
Several mothers of the attending
children, assisted Mrs. Thomas in
entertaining.

Lucile Fleming and Lizzie May
Washington .two negro women, go*
into a fight Saturday afternoon
with pocket knives. Lucile stabbed
Lizzie May over the heart killing
her instantly. Whiskey and domes
tic affairs were the causes of the
fight. Both women were drunk.
Sheriff Thomas was notified and
came over for Lucile. The officers
of the law can do very little to stop
crime unless aided and hacked up
by ihe citizens, and yet we sit sup
inely and wonder why they don’t
check so much evil doing. Blind

on Saturdays almost openly, reach
ing like a deadly octopus strangling
homes and hopes, and we are leav
ing this evil to blight the country.
Our eyes are so earnestly kept on

partment agents designated to in
vestigate charges that Turkish sol
diers had mutilated the body ana
destroyed the coffin of George Dil
boy, an American soldier to whom
a congressional medal of honor was
awarded after he met his death in
the world war, have confirmed them.
In a preliminary report, the agents
said, “those responsible for the
profanation were apparently actu
ated by cupidity rather than by
malice of any intentional act of
disrespect.”

It was learned several days ago

teen defendants and if fourteen of
them are directed against Captain
Skipwith only one charge would he
filed in the case of each of the
others.
TWO CHILDREN DROWN
Norfolk. Va., April 17.—Robert
Engle, aged 8 years, and a com
panion, believed to have been James
Register, 9 years old, were drowned
late this afternoon when their bat
tcau capsized in La Fayette River in
Winona, a Norfolk suburb.

nuisances to he abated.

ORDINANCE
Be it ordained by the authority of the
Mayor anti Council of the City of Louis
ville, Ga., and it is hereby ordained by
the authority of same, thu*. on and after
the adaption of this ordinance Section
230 of the code of said city shall be
amended by striking out the word “fire”
in the third line of said section as it
appears in the code, and substituting in
its stead the word ‘ci'ty” so that said
Section iJ3O of the code will read “City
Limits” Vather than “fire Limits,” and
by striking out the word “wooden” as
it appears in fifth line of Section 230
of the code, so that Section 230 of the
code will read as follows:
“It shall not be lawful for any owner,
lessee, agent, or other person having the
control and management of real estate
within said city limits to build, or have
built, upon the same, or to make any
addition to any building already situat
ed therein, any structure or addition of
any kind without written consent of the
Mayor and Council of the city. Any per
son violating this section shall, upon con
viction. be punished as provided in Sec
tion 167 of the code, and in addition,
thereto, the Mayor and Council shall
take steps prescribed in Section 233 of
the code.”
Passed in strict accordance with the
provisions of the city code, this the 10th
