Tim McBride on Trial in Savannah

Savannah, March 8—Timothy Mc
Bride, son of James McBride, the har*
bor master, and a clerk in the same
office, is on trial in the superior
court today for the murder of Geo.
H. Dyer in front of the city hall a
few weeks ago.
The trial attracted more attention
than any murder trial in Savannah
in many years. It attracted the at
tention of all classes.. The defend
ant is the son of a well known poli
tician and politics was at the bottom
of the homicide.
The feeling between two political
factions was very acute, and Dyer,
with two of his brothers went to the
city hall in search of Plumbing In
speqtor* McKenna. They met Mc
Kenna, James Lane and James Mc
Bride and a shooting affray started.
Tim McBride was on the third floor
of the city hall and fearing his father
would be killed ran down into the
street and began shooting at the of
fending trio. He killed George Dyer.
The other two were shot but not
by young McBride. Policeman Kear
ney was killed and Sap Dyer, a broth*
erof the,man whom McBride killed,
is now ‘In jail and will soon be tried
for the Kearney murder. ’
Young McBride appeared for trial
this morning looking a little care
worn from' his experience in jail but
he and y his friends predict that he
will be acquitted. Messrs. Twiggs
and Oliver are defending him and
Mr. W. C. Hartridge is assisting the
solicitor general in the prosecution.

Refused to Move; He Fainted.
Hazleton, Md., March 8—Mrs. Vic*
toria Kolitskey was held in $1,000
bail here today because she adopted
too strenuous methods to rid herself
of &n undesirable tenant.
When Michael Moyen, a saloon
keeper, refused to vacate Mrs. Kilit-
skey’s building, she entered his bar*
room and with drawn revolver com
manded him to get out. Moyen de
murred and Mrs. Kolitskey pu'Ied the
trigger of the revolver.
The weapon didn’t go off, but Moy*
en was so badly scared that he fell
over in a faint and for a while it
was thought that he was dead. Mrs.
Kolitskey was held in bail to answer
in court for her conduct.
