A violent storm was expe
rienced at Cadiz, m the state
(s!‘Oliio, on the 6th mst. dur
ing which itis stated that hail
stones fell, which in general
were about two inches in cir
cumference, although sever
al of them measured nine and
ten inches. But this account
.so far, is as a “ wart to Ossa,”
when compart'd with the af
fidavit of John Busby, esq.
who deposes that “ before the
hail ceased, there fell before
his eyes, not exceeding thir
ty feet from him a mass of
-congealed matter, which he
thinks would have undoubt
. edly weighed between thirty j
-and fort/ pounds that “ the
• noise occasioned by its fall,
. notwithstanding it was in the
woods, and on- soft ground,
might have been beared forty
rods, thb’ it fell when-stream
ing, and when the wind blew
■ ‘very high and hard ; and that
“on striking the ground, it
burst into a vast number of
pieces resembling Had stones,
o f (li ffe rent shape sand sizes,
one of which was nearly the
size of his two fists when
closed.” Mr. Busby is re
