Description—MINER is a beautiful dark brown,
with remarkably black legs mane und tail. 15 hands 2
inches high, 5 years old tins spring, of fine muscle and
well formed in all particulars. Miner is half brother to
tiie celebrated race horse Argyla, wlutis tba lavorilo of
the South, dee Turf Register for the pedigree of
Monsieur Tonsonaud Collier.
I do certiiy that ilic bay horse which I have sold to
Mr. George ii. Robertson, will be live years old this
spring, und that he was got by Mr. Wm. It. Johnson’*
horse Tonson, his dam Brenda, the dam of tiie cele
brated race horse Collier, formerly owned by Wat. Fin
ney and my»eif. The above (Miner.) I trained die
spring lie was three years old; his first stakes at Fair-
held—first heat I in. f>5s. for which lie did uot contend;
second heat, he was beaten by Mr. Hare’s black colt
(now Black Heath) by about iia'f a’ length, in the un
prccedented time ol lm. 51s. (see Turf Register.)—
Having anextraoidniary opinion of .Miller’s speed and
durability, anu tbi* beiug the best 2d heat 1 had then,
or have ever yet witnessed, aver any Course South t f
die Long Island Course, N. York, 1 purchased Mr
Hare's Black Heath. The next fall I traiued them to
gether. and whs under the firm conviction, from pri-
vatc trials, that Miner was tho best of the two, aud as
an evidence of tua fact, I reflised$ 1750 for half of .Mi
ner, and sold to Mr Richard Adams the whole of Black
Heath for 2500, the next day. The spring lie was
four I traiued him again. In contending for the J. C.
Purse over the Broad Rock Course, be letdown in the
second heat; though let dowu he was well up—Ire-
uette winning, Tcbaconist distanced. I have no
doubt nature intended him foi a first rate four mile
horse, but from some injury which I never could ac
count for, he was unfortunate. This last race see
Tutf Register. JOHN IIKTJI.
