MADISON MENTION.
A Murder Trial—a Burglar Caught In
a Store.
Madisojt. Fla., Oct. 38—The circuit
court, which adjourned Saturday, vu at
work on the Braswell murder case all the
week. The jury retired at 10 o’clock
Friday night to make up their verdict,
but did not come to any decision
until Saturday morning. T. M.
Braswell of Jlhis county was murdered
last spring in a most cruel %nd shocking
manner, and robbed of about S3OO. For a
long time no clew to who committed the
deed could be found, but a few weeks ago
evidence sufficient was obtained which led
to the arrest of two negroes, Rivers Love
and Frank Brooks, and their trial was con
cluded last night. The verdict of the
jury was that Love was guilty of murder
in the first degree, Brooks of murder in
the second degree. Judge White sentenced
Love to be hanged, and Brooks to the peni
tentiary for life. Alexis M. Michelson of
Madison was attorney for Love, and Hon.
R. H. Long of Tallahassee defended Brooks.
A BURGLAR IN A STORE.
Last night at an early hour, Capt. W. H.
Hauamau had occasion to enter ms store, and
as he entered the door he heard a noise in ttie
back part of the store. He called the night
watchman, and thoy together succeeded
in capturing a negro named London Gra
ham, who was at once lodged in jail.
Ixmdon had succeeded in packing a large
trunk and a valiae with a miscellaneous
selection of goods which he intended to
carry off. The timely entrance of Capt.
Hausman prevented him from carrying <,ut
