GEORGIA POLITICS.
Congressman Lister has written that he
has gotten Darien an appropriati in.
Darien Gazette: It will probably be
State Senator W. W. Gordon of the First
district after the next election. Why not
make him president of the Georgia Senate.'
Darien Gazette: If the political pot gets
too hot in the Eighth district it is thought
that Editor T. Larry Gantt of Athens will
bo prevailed upon to enter the field for
congress.
Editor Turner of Albany and Hod. W. J.
Northen havo made friends. Mr. Turner
understood Mr. Northen t J make slighting
remarks about the correspondents who
went along on the trip to Ohio las: year.
Mr. Northen denies having had any'such
intentions.
The Griffin correspondent of the Macon
Telegraph says: “All of the prominent al
liancemen in this congressional district
seem to be perfectly satisfied with our
present representative in c ingress, John D.
Stewart. He has left nothing undone that
would advance the interests of the farmer,
and, nil in all, has proved himself a worker
for bis constituency. He will return to
congress without much effort.”
The Blairsville correspondent of the
Macon Telegraph writes that paper a9 fol
lows: ‘‘Mr. Northen was on hand at Blairs
ville last week, It being Union superior
court. He spoke Monday. Judge James
Brown and Hon. Carter Tate wero on hand,
and seemed as familiar toward each other
as two school boys. It is thought by many
that Judge Brown will not be in the race
for representative in congress of the Ninth
district. It is whispered that he has com
mitted himself not to run. Judge Brown
is a good man and would make a good rep
resentative, but the young democracy seem
to be in favor of Carter Tate, who is a
vigorous young man, and is the very fellow
who must beat the Rev. Tbad Pickott if
that is done. Tate is considered sure of the
delegation from Union county.”
