even worse than the first, and the crowd

GEORGIA POLITICS.
Sumter county’s primary for state officers
occurs to-day.
Harry F. Dunwody and A. L. Groover of
Brunswick have entered the race for the
legislature.
W. H. Davis and E, H. Callaway of
Waynesboro have entered the legislative
race. The primary occurs on July 30.
The friends of Judge Sampson W. Harris
are very hopeful of his nomination at the
coming congressional convention at La-
Grange.
Capt. J. L. Adderton of Amerious an
nounces that he is no longer a candidate for
representative. As the campaign is becom
ing a heated one, he does not desire to enter
into a scramble for the office.
The democrats of Liberty county held a
mass meeting In Binesville last week, and
it was decided to hold primary meetings in
each district in the county, and send dele
gates to Hinesville to select delegates to the
gubernatorial convention.
At at a meeting of the ailiancemen of
Mitchell county Saturday Hod. A. L.
Hawes of Decatur county was unanimously
recommended to the democratic primary of
Mitchell county as the proper man to be
voted for to represent that district in con
gress.
The democrats of Muscogee county will
hold a mass meeting July 12 for the purpose
of appointing anew executive committee
for the county, and for taking such further
action as the interests of the party may de
mand in reference to selecting delegates to
gubernatorial, congressional, and senatorial
conventions.
The Fort Valley Enterprise is threatened
with a boycott, because it differs with some
others on political questions. Editor Kersh
says: “It is highly amusing to the Enter
prise to see names’ signed to articles boy
cotting us, when some of the parties have
never been subscribers, and never paid a
cent for the paper."
The ailiancemen of Randolph county have
passed resolutions indorsing Northen for
governor and HIU of Terrell for senator.
An effort was made to settle upon a repre
sentative for the ailiancemen to support,
but, after considerable discussion and bal
loting, nothing definite could be arranged,
and the meeting adjourned to meet again
ou July 15.
Dahionega Signal: Asbury will go into
the Gainesville convention with sixteen
votes to start on and will only have to gain
five more to receive the nomination —
twenty-one being necessary to a choice,
provided the majority rule is adopted. If
the two-thirds rule is adopted he will have
to get twenty-seven, there being forty votes
in the district. Asbury’s chances are good;
but the weakest man sometimes comes in on
a compromise and carries off the prize.
The Spalding county primary has been
fixed for Aug. 1. The candidates for the
legislature, state senator, congressman, gov
ernor and state house officers will be voted
for as in the regular elections, and those
elected will be allowed to select their dele
gates. On Aug. 2 a meeting of the voters
of the county is called, at which time the
result of the primary will be announced and
anew executive committee appointed. It
is rumored that J. D. Williams of Mt. Zion
district will offer for the legislature. This
will make a three-cornered fight.
T „ h< L farmerß ’ üblauce of Butts county
met Thursday to consider a motion that
had been made by some member of the sub
alliance, That no member of the alliance
vote for any man for office who is not an
allianceman.” They killed the motion,
