Mr. Parks' Sldo of It.
Ty-Tv, Ga., Aug. U.—Editor Morning
Hews: I read in Sunday’s issue of your
paper an article headed “A Bad Fight at
Ty-Ty.” As lam a party in the affair I
wi-h to correct your correspondent’s
account of it. Here are the
facts: I employed Greene to move
mv store forty feet, agreeing to pay him
*4O when the job was completed. He
worked on it a day or two, failing to move
it one foot. Then ho came into my store
and demanded money to pay his hands,
which I refused to let him bavo, whereupon
he commenced cursing and advancing
toward me in my office, with his brother
and the marshal trying to hold him back;
but he being a very s rong man, he man
aged to get into my office, and I, having not
recovered from a long spell of sickness, felt
myself too weak to handle him. I reached
back and picked up an old gun to strike
him with. At this juncture Mr. Johuson,
who clerks for me, came up to help quiet
the fuss. Greene turned upon him with his
knife, and Johnson, to defend himself,
struck Greene on the head, and on knocking
the knife out of his hand Greeu left; and
after two or three hours returned with a
pistol, saying that he would shoot Johuson
at first sight, though he failed auy attempt
to execute his wild threat. The marshal
never hud "any pistol in one hand,” neither
did he call "Come on, boys.” There was no
excitement in the town, as your correspond
ent would have your readers believe. There
were no warrants sworn out as reported.
Something Odd.
Gainesville, Fla,, Aug. 11. —Editor
Morning Sews: I have noticed an odd
thing which perhaps may interest you.
Doubtless you have noticed on the crown of
a person's head a place that corresponds to
the "curl” in the forehead of an ox. Did
you ever notice that the further to the left
of the center of the head, this curve is the
more positive the disposition of tho person,
and ti e further to the right the more weak
willed? In a man we would say he is more
manly or more effeminate according to the
side it is o'i. I have chiefly noticed it in
men and children, their hair being short. I
read in the Morning News of a woman
who was struck by lightning Mid one-half
of her hair was turned white. It was
stated that “though the dividing line was
perfect, oddly en ugh it was not directly in
the center of her head.” Doubtless it passed
through the "curl” on the crown of the
head. Is there a positive and negative side
to a person’s head i Andean a person who
has the “curl” on the right side be more
easily mesmerized than one who has it >u
the left? CCRIOU&J

Exhibition Bathers.
From the Philadelphia Times,
Atlantic City, July 24.—Tho numbor
of exhibition bathers who hang their clothes
on a hickory lima but don’t go near the
water is daily on the increase, and during a
walk along the beach one cau readily pick
out hundreds of young girls and even
mature dames, arrayed in the most attract
ive and costly bathing robes who don’t
even wot their dainty feet in the surf, but
prefer to gayly trip in groups along the
strand or gracefully recline on the warm
sands.
They, as a rulej wear collars and cuffs,
jaunty little caps, neat slippers, and are
invariably tight-laced. They aro as care
ful of detail- in donning this beach cos
tume as if they were dressing for a ball,
and certainly appear far more captivating.
These fair and frolicsome visitors are
known as exhibition bathers, but they don’t
bathe.
Anew fad among this particular class is
to go carriage riding in their brief attire,
and it is a familiar sight on the avenue i
daily to 6ee a bevy of pretty girls clad in
handsomo surf costumes urging along a
weary beach steed, aud evidently enjoying
the diversion
MEDICAL.
ForTheToilet
No better preparation can be had than
Ayer’s Hair Vigor. All who use it speak of
its merits in the highest terms and place it,
as a dressing, far beyond anything else of
the kind. 11 imparts to the hair a beautiful
silken lustre and a fine fragrance, preveuts
baldness, and restores gray hair to its orig
inal color and texture.
“For five years I was troubled with a
disease of the scalp, which caused the hair
to become harsh and dry and to fall out in
such large quantities as to threaten com
plete baldness. Ayer’s Hair Vigor being
strongly recommended to me, I began to
apply this preparation, and before the first
bottle was used the hair ceased falling out
ami the scalp was restored to its former
healthy condition.” Francisco Acevedo,
Silao. Mex'.co.
“ 1 have used Ayer’s flair Vigor and have
received more satisfaction from it than from
any other hair dressing I ever tried.”
C. E. Wooster, Westover, Md.
“ X use Ayer’s Hair Vigor constantly, and
find it excellent.” —T. C. O’Brien, Fort
Keogh, Montana.
