Observer, Woather Bureau. EMMET MEN fT RRED UP. Tne Irish Secret; Order Worried Over i eports of Its convention. The Atlanta Journal of day before yes terday published a three-quarter of a column article purporting to be a statement of the work of the convention of I be Emmet clubs. The article contained a lo: g set of resolu tions eulogizing Parnell, winch the Journal said had caused a lively time, and were finally defeated. The publication brought from Sheriff John T. Ronan of this city, one of the mem bers of the convention, the following card yesterday: As ue of the presiding officers of the meeting of the Emmet clubs, held in At lanta Ti ursday night, I desire to protest against the erroneous report published In the Evening Journal of our proceedings. In ti e first place, we had no pr ceedings for publication; in the second place suca proceedings as we had furnished no founda tion for the statement iu the Journal. It is untruo tb at we “had a lively time over a set of resolutions relative to the death of Parnell that were introduced at the meeting.” No such resolutions as printed were even read, much less ueted upon. iherel or.', the statement that the Journal reporter “heard the following set of resolu ti ns on the death of Parneil read by a member ■ f one of the clubs, and as they Were read he made a shorthand report of them,” is wholly and totally false in every particular. The further statement of the Journal that “it is known that when these resolu tions were read they were objecte i to by some of the members of a risiti g club, and when a motion to enroll tnem on the minutes of the club was put, it was over whelmingly defeated,” is equally false. It is inexplicable to me why the Journal should have published a report without the least foundation. Our meeting was har mo'iiouß, good feeling, and entirely a so cial gathering of the Emmet clubs ot At lanta, Augusta and Savannah. This wo have at tained. - Of course this 13 not a garment of the ordi nary weave, but a two fold fabric-the iDside being pure wool, the outside a superior quality of Balbriggan. The balbriggan threads do not come at all in contact with the body, but give an eitgmt appearance to tbe garment and positively prevents its shrinking. Think of It!
