dogs have fallen victims to its rapacious
appetite. Although several efforts have
been made to capture it they have so far
proved futile.

Gholston. and whether lie is solely resp visi

little doubt that he had something t do
with it The general opinio,} is that Ghol

In Fulton oounty jail Saturday. Every
cell was thoroughly searched ai.d a basket
full of weapons waa ihe result. In the cell
where tbe two Chisholm boys and Jim

a da gerous knife was found, and in nearly
every other oell was found a loaded bottle.
The bottles were filled with water and
then wrapped with string. Many of them
hod strong cords tied to the necks and
would have kidwi a man at one blow, in
the cell of Porter Stocks was found a
heavy billy made of an iron padlock. At
tached to tbe lock was a stout piece of
leaiher, which was used as a handle.
Stocks says he ha, had the weapon for five
months and made no secret of it. He says
he frequently assisted the jailers with un

farmer Charles Watt, just before Christ

searob a startling discovery was made.
Right in the center of the roof of the cell
was found a large bole that had been cat
several inches deep. The men had evi

time. Over tbe bole a picture had been
stuck with soap, so aa to completely cover it.

Orlando Reporter: At an early hour
Wednesday utght while the street* wore
full of pedestrians, two white men were
seen by one of the guards at tha jail to
scale the fence ot the jail yard. Tha guard
at once started for the two men and they
cilmbad bees over the fanes, makiug their
way through the alley back of Bowen’s
grocery st re and across Pine strsat and on
through the allay at tha side of Charles
Kook’s bakery, and thence through the
several alleys toward tha railroad, where
their pursuer lost sight of them. Sheriff
Anderson seeing a light iu McNamara’s
cell, and observing him reading thero,
quietly crept around to tha window nearest
to the train robber's cell and gently tapped
on the outside wall of the jail to see what
would be the outoorne. Ihe light, in Mo-
Namara'a oell was extb guithed as soon as
the tapping began, and McNamara imme
diately appeared at the cell door. He
threw down a string, to oue end of wbioh
was attached a piece of tin can hammered
together so as to form a weight. The tin
lodged on the window sill. Sheriff Ander
son thrust his hand through tha gratiug of
ihe window and, grubbing the airing,
broke it but secured the portion to whloh
the tin weight was attached. McNamara,
of course, offers no explanation of the
affair. The supposition is that some party
or parties have been arranging with Mc-
Namara to furnish him, by means of this
suing elevator, with some Instrument or
method by which to effect his escape.
