NEW YORVF, Mar. 2.—Trading was quiet in
I the <-ettun market here early today, but the
tone was rather steadier owing to the small of

a better spot demand. The market opened at
an advance of 7 points on March and of 1 to 3
points on later months, with the active deliver

advance carried May contracts up to 11.47 and
July to 11.68, or just about even with the best
point reach* d on the rally of Tuesday. Buying
b> trade interests was a little more in evidence

NEW ORLEANS, March 2.—Good cadies and
a better feeling regarding political conditions
gr.i< the local cotton market a slightly higher
trend m the early trading today. Business was
noi large, but offerings were small and at the
end of the first half hour o ftradiug prices were
3 to 4 points up.
Reports of a better spot demand.ami stimu
lated buying inodfcrateiy. Offerings remained
slender. At noon prices were 10 to 11 points
up.
The spot interest was dispposed to cover
after the noon hour which further steadied
the tone. At 1:30 prices were 13 to 16 points
up.
