CHICAGO, Ni'V. 10.—Hot winds dameging the
wheat crjp in southern Argentina caused a
bulge here today. Besides, deliveries ill the
domestic spring wheat states were light and in
terior elevator stocks were reported small. Ou
the upturn, newever, leading houses turned to
selling, and the market sagged. The opening,
which ranged from 14 off to %c advance, with
December at $1.87% to 81-87%, and May at
81.92% to 31.08, was followed by a decided
gain, then reactions to below yesterday’s finish
and later a new upturn.
The fact that British wheat buyers seemed
tv be out of the market am 1 had done nothing
in the last rew days eonnt.-d against the bulls.
It was hinted that much British vessel tonnage
-.art been -witched to Australia and Indiana.
There were also reports t'.at President Wilson
vtould make leconimendatiomi to congress rel
ative to an vnibargo on foodstuffs. The close
was wenk. 1c to 2%c net lewer with Decem
ber at 81.85% to 81.85% and May at |1.90%
t> 8191%.
Corn showed strength In sympathy. Dams«re
to Argentine corn was ilsn a bullish factor.
After opening % to 1%®1%C higher, the mar
ket scored a substantial general advance, with
later tempora-y setbacks.
Assertions thnt the* new corn crop In Argen
tina was a •omnlete failure led afterward so a
harp rise whicti, however, was not mainlined.
The close was unsettled at %<f7%e decline to
v.«v%c udvauce a R compared with yesterday's
finish.
In oats, the Argentine situation gave an ad
vantage tn the bolls. There wag a good Com
