NEW YORK, June 19.
Tire—This morning, a little before 2
o’clock, a fire broke out in the stable of Mr
John Corgan, in Cheapside near Market-
street, which soon communicated to sever
al adjoining buildings, and extended to
Lombardy-street, and for some time threat
ened destruction to the entire block between
Market and Catharinc-strects. The timely
arrival of the Engines, and the usual ac
tivjty of the firemen checked the flames,
but not qntll six buildings were destroyed,
and some others cosiderably injured.

To amend an Ordinance "Entitled an Ordinance
to establish a Board of Health for the City of
Savannah, and for ventilating and cleansing un.
occupied building within satu city.”
See. I. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Alder,
men of the City of Savannah in Comcil assembled,
and K is hereby ordained by the authority of the
same. That from and after the passage of this or
dinance it shall be the duty of the owner or own
ers of all untenanted or unoccupied stores, houses,
nr buildings within the limits of the City of Sayan*
nsh, to be opened, and ventilated, at least once in
every week, untilthe tenth day of November next,
and once in every week from the first day of May
to the tenth day of November in each and ever;
year afterwards, and that every owner of auci
untenahted or unoccupied stores, buildings, or
houses, as aforesaid, who shall fail or omit to cause
the hi me to be opened and ventilated as aforesaid,
shall, on conviction thereof before Couneil, be
fined in a sum not exceeding Thirty Dolars for
each and every failure or omission.
Sec. 2» Ana be it further ordained by the an
thority aforesaid, That from and alter the passage
of this ordinance, it shall be the duty of the own
er or owners of all untenarted or ■ unoccupied
stores, houses, or buildings, as sforesaid, to cause
the same to be white washed, or cleansed in such
manner as the Mayor may direct or order, within
five days after be or she, his or her agent, or at.

Sixteen Hundred Dollars Reward.
a N addition to his Excellency Governor Wil
son’s Proclamation ofiering a Reward of four
hundred dollars for the apprehension and proof
to conviction of the murderer or murderers of the
late John Burns of Saint Lukes Parish—a num
ber of the citizens thereof having subscribed the
sum of one thousand two hundred dollars to be
paid by them to the person or persons convicting
the murderer or murderers of the said crime.

ner, John Cheney, and Richard U. Screven, a com
mittee appointed for that purpose.

Extracts of an Ordinance,
To prevent horses sod other animals from going
at large.
Whereas great inconvenience and danger re-
results to the Inhabitants of the City of Savannah
from horses and other animals running at large in
the said city
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of
the City of Savannah, in Council assembled, and it
is hereby ordained by the authority of the some
that no horse, gelding, mare, colt, filly, mule, Or
jackass, shall be -allowed to go at large within the
limits of said city.
And be it further ordained that ail nnd every
owner or owners of any horse, gelding, more, colt,
filly, mule, or jackass, that shall be lound at large
shall be fined for each and every offence in a sum
not exceeding Five Dollsrs and cost.
Be it further nrdtined by the authority afore
said, that it shall be the duty of the City Marshal
and of the City Constable to take up and impound
any and every animal that may be seen or known
to be going at large within the corporate limits
of the city, and the owner or owners of such ani
mal or smimal.s so taken op and impounded shall
pay all expences that may be thereby incurred in
addition to the penalty imposed by the above re
cited ordinance. *-

County, near Raysville, on Little Biver, thy
negro man Phill. or Phillip, on the22d Dccembef
1821. Phill is about five feet eight or nine in' hes
high, twenty five years old, dark complection,
thick lips, shows his teeth very p'lainly, when he
laughs s bends back in his knees i is a tolerable

Also, my negro man Peter, who sometimeo calto
himself Peter Rank* on the 24th December, 1821;
who is about thirty years of age, yellow compirc-
tion, about five feet nine or ten inches high, with
a scar on the left cheek, occasioned by the cut
of a knife, which shows very plainly. Peter is a
tolerable Shoemaker, a handy rough plantation
Carpenter. 1 have good reasons to believe, they
have obtained two free passes eachj they have
one, to work by the month, until they have got
money sufficient, and'then they are to make use of
the other: I believe they made for. Savannah.
The above reward will be given for the appre*
henslon and delivery of the said negroes to the
subscriber, or for lodging them in any skfe Jail, so
that I get them again, or fifty dollars for either of
them.
