1 act entitled an act, to extend the time of tu-
king out grants on surveys made on head rights
and bounty warrants.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re
presentatives of the state of Georgia, in General
Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the
authority ofthe same, That where any person or
persons have heretofore r.ad surveys made on
head rights, bounty warrants and grunts thereon
have not been obtained, it shall and may be law
ful for such person or persons to apply for and
obtain such grant or grants, at any time pre
vious to the 25th of October, 1824, on payment
of the usual fees.
Sec 2 And be it further enacted by the au
thority aforesaid, That where any surveys have
heretofore been made nn head rights orhounty
warrants, and grants thereon lmve not been ob-
tained, such land shall not be subject to a re
survey until three months from and after the
person or peraons claiming under the original
Mirvet shall have been notified that such re-sur
vey is intended to be made, and that in all cases,
tne person or peraons claiming under the'origi
nal survey, ahull be entitled to the preference
of making such re-survey, until the expiration
of three months from the time of such notifica
tion f and in the event of there being no claim
ant residing on or pear the land to be thus re-
surveyed, such notice shall lie peifected by giv
ing three months notice by public advertisement,
at the Court House of the county where such
land may lie, and in one ofthe public Gazettes
of this State. ,
Sec 3 And be it further enBCted, That it shall
be the duty of all surveyors who shall make any
such re-survey, to certify on his return to the
surveyor General, that due notice, according tu
the provisions of this act had been given, and
no grant obtained on such re-survey shall be va'-
iid, unless accompanied with such certificate:
Provided, nothing in this act shall afi'ecl the
rights of orphans or persons under the age of 21
years, and that till such persons shall be allowed
one year after they arrive at the age of 21 yeara
to take out tlieir grants.
Sec 4 And he it farther enacted. That it shall
be the duty of.the Governor to cause this act tu
be published in one of the newspapers in Mil
ledgcvillc, Augusta and Savannah, once in each
mouth, until the expiration ofthe time appoint
cd by the same for taking out grants.
Sec 5 And be it iurtlier enacted, that all laws,
and parts of laws miiilatiiig against this act be
and the same are hereby repealed.
