MEDICAL A CA DEMY T HE happy cfleets uf the Itontanical System o f Practice, more especially f late employed in tiie cure of disease* such as entitle it to a high rank amoeg modem impiovements. The opinion long ntormined in its favor, by many of the judicious, n thoiough experience has now '.•monstratod to he well founded; and with the number aud variety of its salutary chievements, its reputation is daily increa*- It must ho evident to every discerning mind, that the present prevailing practice of medicine, winch rejects this botanical id, is at variance with our nature and with our happiness. Mercury, the Lancet, and the Knife, aro chiefly relied upon, by phy cinns and surgeons of the present day, lor u: removal of almost all the diseases inci ent to the human body, notwithstanding lie cfl jets of these deleterious agents, me evidently fatal to multitudes. Deeply im pressed wit!) these facts aud with a view f reforming the science and practice of medicine, an individual of this city in the ear 1027. procured a lot of ground nnd reeled a handsome and convenient edifice for an Institution denominated the United States Infirmary, expressly for employing a reform system of practice in the treatment, of diseases; the tcmcdinl resources being chiefly derived from the productions of ono own country. The course of treatment adopted by this Institution was principal ly the result of near forty years experierici; of n distinguished medical reformer; which ourse we are happy to state, has been crowned witli signal success, and proved to demonstration, that without Mercury, that boasted champion of the MATEIU a MEDIOA, or other poisonous drugs, dis eases generally may he cured by those more snfo and salutary mepns, which the God of nature basso liberally scattered around us. Animated by the past success, nnd with the hope of benefitting future generations an irrepressible desire has been felt, tha measures commensurate w ith the impor ance of the object should he taken, i > pro iiiuLiiitc this Valuable system of practice, and thcioby improve and reform the nobis and important science of medicine. After reflecting for years upon the most prudent and siicee sful method of effecting so desirable an object, it has been deemed expedient to establish a MEDIFAL SCHOOL, with competent teachers,w here students may receive board and instruction until they are fully qualified to practise in the various branches of the healing ait up on tiie reformed system. We are now hap py to announce, that a building for such an Institution has been elected, nnd (by Divine permission) will be opened in Nov. next, for the reception of Students. Thu building is large anil commodious situated in Eldiidge Street, between Grand and Broom, and adjoining the present U. S. Infirmary.
