afterwards have become wet by remaining
longer than six hours in the weather ; m
shall expose any Cotton or other Merchan
dise which shall bo in a dry stnto; lie sire,
or they shall be fined in a surrmot exceed
ing $30 fend costs for each offence.
§ 3 Beit further ordained* That it shall
not be lawful to expose in any public street
or square or lane of the city, any Cotton
which is not packed in bags.' And if any
person shall expose in any public street
square or lane, any Cotton which is not*
packed in bags, he or she shall for every
such o(fence bp fined in a sum not exceed
log thirty dollars.
Snd he it further ordained* That any'or
dinance or part thereof militating against
this Ordinance, be and tho same is here
by repealed.

Session passed the following Act.
AN ACT.
“To authorize and provide for the buil-
“dittg of an tjnionnl in tho City of Savan-
“nah for the preservation nnd bettor securi-
“ty of the arms tmd munition**’of war the
“property of this Slate in said City.
„Skc. 1, Be It enacted by the Senate
“anil House of Representatives of tl)e State
“of Georgia iu General Assembly met and
‘•it is hereby enacted by the authority of
“the same, That Ids Excellency (he
'/Governor, be and he is hereby authorized
“and required to cause to be built or erec-
“ted in tlie City of Savannah aforesaid on
“such (ot of ground ns the citizens or cot
“ppration of said city ntny surrender in fee
“simplo for this purpose, a suitable build-
“ing or Arsenal of bi iok or stonp, of proper
“dimensions for the security and preserva
tion of the arms and munitions of War be-
“longing to the State,nnd as a place of de
posit for the same.
Sec. 2, And be it further enacted that
“his Excellency the Governor be nnd he
“he is hereby authorized to pay for the
“erection and building of said Aisenal by
“draft on the contingent fund for a sum
“not exceeding seven thousand dollars.”
Sec.'I. Therefore he it enacted by the
Mayor and Aldermen of the’City ofSavan
nah and Hamlets thereof in Council as
sembled, and it is hereby ordained by the
authority of tho same, That a conveyance
be made to the State of Georgia for the
purpose of building an Arsenal thereon of
all that western half of trust lot letter G.
in Percival Ward fronting on Whitaker
street and extending from thence eastward
ly 00 feet’more or less,bounded on the north
byPresident st. and on the south by York
street, Provided, nevertheless that the said
half lot or parcel of laud shall bo appro
priated solely ns asitefot an Arsenal and
its appevtcnnuces for the preservation of
the arms and munitions of war belonging
to the State of Georgia, and of the City of
Savannah, and for no other purpose what
soever. V
Sec. 2. Be it further ordained by the
authority aforesaid, Thai tho arms and
warlike implements at .my time beldngjnfe
to or in possession of the City of Savan
nah, or of die military within its bounds,
may at all times be deposited for security
and preservation in the said Arsenal, under
tho care and superintendance of its keeper,
and th.it the volunteer Companies or oth
er military bodies within the said City shall
be permitted to assemble in the said build
ing under proper regulations.
Sec. 3, Bo it ordained by the authority
aforesaid that all ordinances or parts of
ordinances militating against this ordin-
incc be and the same are hereby repealed.
