Dr. W J Worsham, an old citizen of Spring Place and now a prosper¬ ous druggist at Knoxville Tenn., has very generously given twenty five dollars towards building the new Methodist church at this place. The Doctor is noted for his liberal¬ ity in such worthy enterprises. Mr. Dug Howard, formerly of this place, and a well known young to many of our readers, died in South Pittsburg^Tenn., on the 17th inst. He leaves a wife and two children, His many his friends will regret to hear of death. His remains were laid to rest at Sher wood Tenn. Sumach Dots. Old Mr. Stanford has been very low for several days, but is conva¬ lescent now. Mrs. Ford of Whitfield County is visiting Mrs. Humphreys. Isaac McLain has moved near Cleveland Tenn. John Tompson has moved to his farm in this community. John is one of the many young men who has taken him a wife recently. J JL Beck must be &oing to marry if there is any bign in building a new smoke-house. Friend. Mr, Baal Edwards, of the Eighth District who is Eighty Nine years of age, last week happened to meet with some young gamesters in the forest who had fired several shots at a squirrel in a towering oak. Un¬ cle Baal asked the boys to let him try his skill. One ot the boys handed him his rifle and he took deliberate aim with the long blue rifle and at tue crack of the gun the squirrel come tumbling to the ground. Uncle Baal is living with his second wife, who is a young wo¬ man of about thirty springs, and she says that it is better to be an “Old man’s darling than a young man’s slave ” Give Them A Chance!
