C. N. KING. s. b carter. North Georgia Times KING* CARTER, Pah Ushers. THURSDAY, MARCH, 8, We were asked the question some time ago: why do you not Loom Murray county through your paper? We anawerd, we wtre waiting for the A. & C. to arrive before we enrolled od the boom list. But since the A & 0 is a lit.le late at riving, we might state for the benefit of those who are traveling South in search of a healthy location, where pure water gushes forth from the hillsides and springs up in the valleys as limped as the crystal waters ot Siloam; where rich valleys are spread out like the prairies of the West for farm¬ ing purposes, suitable for corn cotton, whet, oats, grasses, clo¬ ver, rye and in fact, most all the products that grow South of the Mason and Dickson line. Yes, and one ot the most pro¬ lific fruit growing counties, soil adapted to almost the entire fruit kingdom. More than all this, we can boast of our miner¬ al wealth that lies tolled up m the mountains on our eastern bo der. In these mountains is found, gold, silver, iron, lead, coal, manganese and various other valuable metals which would excite those who are seeking for mineral wealth and would attract them to this point like the needle to the magnet, if it was only made known to the outride World. Come this way gentlemen and “sip with us and let ^ sip with you,” and help us to develop our fertile valleys *and excavate our hidden miner¬ al that weie left l us unmolested by the Cherokee Indians’ Woodlawn Dots. Fine weather and farmers busy sowing o .ts. Having attended Superior Couri at Spring Place last week, I have gotten tar behind in the line of country news,—intact it appears to me that interesting items are very scarce and hard to get just now. Col. Sam P. Maddox, the good looking Dalton lawyer said, “boys Miss Ooie Kelley is just as smart and pretty as she can be,” and all of us, including lawyer Martin, readily agreed with him. Harris & Davis, at this place, are buying eggs at the rate of about two h.indred dozen a week, and still some pe pie quar rel at the old hens. Hastily, Mch. 3. 88. ” W. R. D. Hon. Vf. Benj. ii Bingham, chair man of the state democratic ex. ecutive committee, has called a meeting of said committee on March 2l9t,—This committee will call a state convention wbiefa will select delegates to meet the national convention at St. Louis June 5th. A great panic is leported in tbe cottoD market in New Yoik. The new State Capitol is moving on to completion rap¬ idly, and when nni-bed will be one of the roost magnificent buildings in the South. Mrs. Sallie Summers of Jones county, aged 92, has 365 grand children, 142 great grand chil¬ dren, and 42 great great grand children. A New York man has just been hung after having been sentenced to death six times. He was resigned to bis fate. Hon- Allen D. Candler and Judge Geo. N, Lester, are the fast running candidate* for con¬ gress, in the 9th. Mr. Blain says be will not be a candidate tor President in 1888—perhaps some other year —his wife objects.
