'■I scales of justice seem to be
Bilging quite evenly in Bullpen
listrict. On last Saturday tho law
ye/s and constables assembled at
the court ground and transaceed
the business in tho absence of tho
court, which did not deem the pond
ing litigation of enough importance
to deserve their attention.
EevJJack Davis, well known to
many of our people, died in the
northern portion of the county one
day last week. Mr. Davis was 72
years of age and had spent a large
portion of his life in the ministry.
In the Senatorial primary in Whit¬

judge Harlan of Gordon, a mem¬
ber of the Board of Commission¬
ers of that county, came up Satur¬
day to inspect our Court House.
Gordon will build a §16000 Court
House, and the commissioners will
probably select one on the plan of
ours.
The saw mill business is brisk—
we might say rampant,—m the
1013th District. The recent litiga.
tion however, in regard to this im¬
portant branch of industry was sub¬
mitted to arbitration last Monday
and a satisfactory settlement
reached’ Lawyers Martin and Stan
appeared for the litigants.

The picnic at, Tunnel "Hill on
Wednesday of last week was quite
a political affair as well as a day of
amusement. Cola. Shumate and
Moore delivered addresses; and it
is not necessary to say how they
acquitted themselves, as our peo¬
ple know toe well the ability of
these accomplished gentlemen.
We are glad that there are vig
iiant representatives of tho people
like Mr. Blount and Mr. Clements
in Congress.—MUcon Telegraph.
Ifl our last issue the law card of
Coi. J J Bates was placed beloro
tho public. Col. Bates is a sensible,
studious and painstaking lawyer,
who gives promise of success in his
profession, and usefulness to his
country. He is too well known to
need a recommendation from us;
but we will say that he is safe,
wide-awake and capable.

The residence of Mr. S L Ander¬
son, three miles North of town, to¬
gether with almost its entire con¬
tents, was destroyed by fire last
Monday. The supposition is that
the Are caught from a defective
stove flue. This accident was a
severe and heavy calamity on Mr.
Anderson and his family, but their
necesities were greatly relieved by
a liberal contribution of many ar¬
ticles of necessity by the people of
the village and community.
WHAT AM i TO BO?
The symptoms of Biliousness are
unhappily but different too well individuals known.
They differ in
to some extent. A Bilious man is
seldom a breakfast enter. Too fre¬
quently, alas, he has an exctdlent ap
petite for liquids but none for ioiids
of a morning. His tongue will hard¬
ly bear inspection at any time; if it
is not white and furred, it is rough,
at all events. *
Tho digestive system is wholly
out of ortfer and Diarrhea or con
stipation may be a symptom or me
two may alternate. There are often
Hemorrhoids or even loss of blood.
There may be giddiness and often
headache and acidity or fl itulence
and tenderness in the pit of the
stomache. To correct ail this if not
effect a cure try Green’s August
Flower, it cost but a trifle and
thousands attest.
