announce the death of Mr. J B
Johnson of Calhoun, which occur¬
red on last Sunday, after an illness
of three weeks. Mr. Johnson was
formerly of this county and wel 1
known among our people, and it
is with a feeling of regret that the
tad news has come to our ears.
We sympathize deeply with the be¬
reaved relatives in their loss.

The R;me exposition committee
for this county, met in the court
house, last First Tuesday. Chair¬
man J A MuKamv presided, and
on motion W 0 Mai tin was made
secretary. Quite flattering repoits
were made from some of tho dis¬
tricts. Application will be made
for three hundred square feet of
space in tho building at Rome for
the county exhibits and, Prof. Owles
and I R Bates were selected to take
charge of the county exhibits while
at Rome. A finance committee
composed of T Scarr J 0 McEntire
and W G Harris, was appointed to
get up money to defay the expense
in connection with makiug the county
exhibit. Ail exhibits for the county
must be sent, in, by the 20th Inst,
to the committv of Spring Place
district. The ladies of the county
arc invited to send in exhibits.
Tne committee will hold a meeting
in the court house on the 20th inst.
