c. X. KINO. s. b CARTER. - North Georgia Times KIVG* CARTER, Publitlter*. THURSDAY, JANUARY IO. 1899 FABMERS’ ALLIANCE Whereas Ibis jtais opera¬ tions of the fa; mers are about closed', and many of us are un¬ able to meet o.ir obligations, and we believe the principal cause is our failure to adhere strictly to the principals of the alliance, and as neatly as possi¬ ble make our farms self sustain ing and a great tendancy with us to buy more on time at ex¬ travagant prices than is actual" ly necessary operations to carry on combi¬ our farming the nations ot money, men and spec ulators by which the prices of flower &c., and fertilizers have been greatly advanced, and as we are about to enter upon a new year. Resolved 1st: That we the Spring Place Farmers’ Alliance pledge ourselves and recom¬ mend to the other Alliances of this and ether counties to plant a full supply of all pro¬ vision c:ops and make an hon¬ est effort to raise a sufficiency of meat and other products for home consumption. Further that we pledge ourselves, as brethren, to buy nothing from any source however cheap it may be offered but that which is absolutely necessary to carry on our business, until we have become independent of the ex¬ actions of met chants and other speculators. Resolved 2nd: That we take steps immediaiely to procure a fertilizer for the future crop (if we use any) we pledge ourseves to not use any fertilizers the coming season unless we can buy them direct from the man¬ ’ ufactures, or through our chos¬ en agents, and not then unless we can got a good article and as cheap as we bought it last season. Resolved 3rd That wo will not buy any thing on a credit during the year 1889 ii it is possible to avoid it, and will do all in our pow¬ er to live at home and be indepen dant and further that we conform strickly to the by-laws adopted by this Alliance. Resolved 4th That we earnestly urge upon onr bfothien throughout tbe state, to coopoerate with us in carryiug out the resolutions for wo believe we are woiking for the good of the agricultural people. Resolved 5th That the secretary furnish a copy ot the above reso¬ lutions to the Tuxes and request other papers to copy. W H Staples, Sect'y. Spring Place All.ance. Europe has about 10,000, 000 tra ined soldiers ready fov battle at auy time. This looks like Europe meaus to establish fighting as her leading busi¬ ness. The Cleveland Mutual Asso¬ ciation has failed, leaving ler members wanting—that cash they have sent to the treasure department. Sold by tobinson & Ander¬ son. We clip the following Irom tbd Atlanta Constitution: The farmers’ alliance has not been successful as a rule in its candidates lor county offices. In Carre 11 county the two al¬ liance candidates werej beaten, although Carroll has been con¬ sidered a stronghold of the al¬ liance. In Douglass every alliance candidate was beaten, and the teuds cieated by the campaign are giving ttouble in the alliance camp. Iu Paulding sou uty the county candidates were beaten. Those who ex pected the alliance to do good work were disappointed in their efforts to distribute the political spoils and control ev¬ ery political contest. The al¬ liance has a very much nobler work in its possible, future than passing around petty offices. The above is evuhnee that the Farmers’ Alliduee is non political. “ Hi l’oiapoy I what you ’fraid of r What uiakc-3 vou shako and shibber?” * Li.-v *.biio 1 iso got de ague A*i f b de tropic libte.” T' tn.;J« know libticr what Rmpey? ; don’t yen mcr.nc: J:>1 ’ ci. • fi: I ■•' !! >dur BILE rguo BEANS. r . - - •• KM! ■ .'. git .4 f i 4.;;.-. don’t pay mere! v, *;i " t. uor.t -J. do dir:,iJcn’B store.’ v, eccjic-mitit’ find ’ >tite.
