On the 3rd instant the appor

It gives Georgia 10 representatives
tn congress, and takes affect March
3rd 1883.
An exchange says: “Gen. Gar

360,000 patriots are now pro pur

Well, tbe inauguration is over,
and “bis fraudulency ” becomes ob

prove that bonasty is tbe best pol

Where is our political doctor?
Some oi the democratic papers are
talking iu a “franzied” way about
Iiufaa B. B. for tbe new cabinet,
and wo don't know but their pulse
needs to be examined—we are
afraid they are not well.
The papers have for some time
been discussing tbe etymology of
the word “Boer;” and Mr. B. C.
A rents, who seems to be posted,
•ettles tbe question. He says it is
Hollaudish and Flemish, and means
countryman, but more especially

that he is at borne, if he wants a

was the remark of one of the shrew
dest anti most successful business
men iu the country tlmt “he gaug
ed the capucity and respectability
of merchants and dealers by their
method of placing themselves and
their works before the public.”
Tho mistake most frequently made
in advertising is that ot adopting a
wrong method of reaching the peo
ple whose custom is d -sired, lr is
a matter of ustoiiishment that so
much money sbotild bo dally thrown
away by advertising through circu
lars. Of tho thousaudB that, are
scattered broadcast along Ihe
streets, bung up in ears, and i hr -wn
in yards of private residences, very
few are ever road, and those that
do receive attention usually pro
duce an effect the reverse of that
intended. The place to put nn ad
vertisement where it will do the
most good is in the Galveston News,
which is lead at almost every break
fast table within a thousand miles
of Galveston, and circulates in all
parts of tbe state.
