Mott-mr,- in iuobea the girth toiled the breast, just behind the shouldei blade, ami the length of ihe back from i m ail to the loretop of ih ■boulder blade. Multiply I he girth by the length, and divide by T14. If the girth is less than three feel, multiplv the quotient by 11 ; if lie tween thr e fret and live feet, multi ply by lfl; if between five teet ami ■even feet, multiply by 24; il be tween seven ami nine bet, multiply by 31. If the animal is lean, deduc oue-twootietb from the result. Take the girth and leuglli in feet, multi ply the squaie of the girth by the length, and multiply the product hy 33G. The result will tie Ihe answer in pounds. The live weight multi plied by 0.C5 gives a near approxima tion to tha pet weight. Our faruera will bear iu mind thut in working with cotton, nothing will be moie important than clean picking in cot||*queiics of the abort crop, and in order to reulize the best prices, the lint should be free from trash and dust. These can be avoid ed only by prompt picking when the cotton is freshly opened. Most of :he c ro will be housed due- ing this month, and i*s pretervati n against rot uud weevil will depend much upon the manner atid oondi tionsof storing in the barn. Conceit is to nature what paint is to beauty; it u not only needless, but impairs what it would improve For r-arache, dissolve aesafuetida in water ; warm a few drops ami drop into the ear; then close the var with wool. To prevent choking, break an egg into a cup and give it to the person choking to swallow. The white of the egg seems to catch uround the obstacle and remove it. If one egg does not answer the purpose, try an other. The white is all that is neces sary. KXKl UTOR’S 8 A LIT. On Tuesday November first.
