The Flapper
Mere man must make the mov
that will bring the flapper hack to
girlcy.
The modern girl is bent on “shift
ing’’ civilization into the bottomless
pit and it’s up to man to save off the
calamity.
This note of warning was sounded
by the Rev. Alice Phillips Aldrich,
pastor of the Bethany Congregation
al church, Chicago, and noted social
worker. ,
“The flapper has turned 'his
world of ours topsy turvy,” said the
Revernnd Aldrich. “The deplorable
moral conditions that must concern
every thinking person can he laid to
the twentieth century edition of the
fairest work of the great Author.
“The edition must wield the blue
pencil. When girls go too far and
surely that time is not far distant—
man will revolt: and demand n return
to genuine girlcy.
“Nowadays, it’s the girl who ’cops’
the man. She sets out to get him,
and in most canes, succeeds before he
knows he’s caught.”
The change in girls in the last
generation is startling, said the Rov-
crand Aldrich.
“The last generation of girls was
conquettish and of course, not all
saints. Rut they didn’t hnve the hold
ways of the girl of today.”—At

Learn To take A Joke
Learn to take a joke.
Nothing so sooths the pathway of
life as the ability to laugh at the
little ups and downs, and especially
to see the point and enjoy n joke
at your own expense.
Sometimes we see people who take
such a serious view of life thn) the
very expression of their facees gives
us a chill. To them life indeed seems
a waste howling wilderness and they
feel that it is their highest duty to
do all they can to help it howl. To
them the whole scheme of thins
seems to he one great tragedy. They
are experts at finding all the thorns
along life’s pathway, and if by
chance you should happen to miss
any of these the expert and profes
sional thorn finder feels that he has
neglected his sacred duty unless he
takes you by the hand and rubs it
gently against the thorn you have by
sheer good fortune missed. These
arc the people who seem to regard
life as one long blue Monday. They
to take a joke good naturedly, bnl interest in n tract of land lying and
to irally enjoy it, even when you are |being in the 3rd District and 2nd
