PHCENiI GUAiO
FROM THE
SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.
We offer this new GUANO
| to the Planters of Georgia, in the
I greatest confidence that it is the
! best and cheapest Fertiliser yet
I discovered. It is a NATURAL GU
ANO, imported in bulk, and sold
in its natural state, without
Grinding or Manipulation, which
i is the best guarantee that Plan
; ters can have that it is
PURE & I .YIIH LTEIUTKII.
Although it is essentially a
j Phosphatic Guano, it has, in ad
| dition to a large amount of Plios
; pliate of Lime—which renders it
; a permanent Fertiliser—a suf
ficient proportion of the Sul
phates of Ammonia, Potash, and
Soda, and organic matter, rich in
Nitrogen, to secure for it prompt
and efficient action upon the first
crop.
We obtained enough of it last
Spring to have it thoroughly
| tested by some of the best Plan
| ters in the State. The certifi
| cates of these Planters, together
j with the Analyses of Prof. Jones,
Chemist to the Cotton Planters’
Association ; Prof. Shepherd, of
the Charleston Medical College ;
and Prof. Darby, of Alabama,
furnish convincing evidence of
its decided superiority to any
Fertiliser yet/ introduced into
this country. These evidences
are printed in Pamphlet form,
and will lx* furnished gratis on
application to our Agents, or to
us.
THIS GUANO
IS FREE FROM HARO LUMPS.
The importers of this GU
ANO are bound to us under
heavy penalties to furnish us
with GUANO of fully as good
quality as the cargo Analysed
by Profs. Jones, Shepherd, and
Darby; and we pledge ourselves
that each cargo shall be critical
ly Analysed upon arrival, and
unless found to be essentially
identical with those already re
ceived, we will either reject
them or sell them at a corres
pondingly less price.
This GUANO is put up in
barrels of about 300 pounds, and
the price will be uniform, as fol
lows : £4O per ton of 2,000
pounds, CASH, or *S‘U>, credit
until Ist of November, 1861,
without interest, in Savannah,
The price at interior points will
be the same, with necessary ex
penses added.
When sold on credit, city ac
ceptances will be required.

The AMERICAN GUANO, notwithstanding the
unfavorable season, has won a reputation through
out Georgia, Alabama, and South CaNina, (where
it has been extensively used), that sets aside all
cavil as to its position among the Aest Fertilisers
yet discovered. It stands side with Peru
vian. /
It is true, there have beenson#failures—always
will be—so there has been w/n Stable Manure
and Peruvian —indeed, every Jind this season;
but that does not prove that American GuaßO
will not pay a large per centit#'. In almost every
case, where tKere has been wh-t is called a failure,
it has been owing either to thi manner in which
it was applied, the cuhivutan, or the quantity
used. Some put it too fai fron the seed—some lose
half by the wind blowing it atay—others by mix
ing it with Stable Manure, 0 by using not half
enough to the acre ; but takea as it was used by
the inexperienced as well as tlfc'xperienced Plant
er, and, so far as we have bee, abl? to learn the
truth, in nine cases out of tenjj ha Guanoed Cot
ton, Corn, Wheat, Oats, Bai t|-,j Rye, Turnips,
and all Garden Vegetables, lAJ yielded nearly
twice as much as the unguanoeti.tud ; so it pays
even in the dryest seasons. Ybiibake but little
this year—poor crops—but ts mi had used no
Fertiliser, you would have ma|e>ext to nothing.
If the seasons had continued thjpgbout July and
Augustas they did up to thepth of June, the
old worn out hills of Georgia i.ncCarolina would
have groaned under the weight o the most over
whelming crops that were ev gathered. So
don’t be discouraged, but folio the example of
the Dicksons, Thos. Whaley, T. Smith, of Han
cock ; Judge Roberts, of Waste; Dr. Mims, T.
G. Lamar, and the Ransforas, oFdgelield, S. C.,
who return annually to their ld from $4 to £6
worth of Fertilisers per acre, apdour success will
be ltke theirs, an overwhehpic income for the
money invested, to say nothing f ihe permanent
improvement of your lands. i ;
