REMARKS.
Trade for the past week has been very good. Our
strtJbU have been crowded with wagons and planters'
fromthe country. Th re has been a good demand tot
goods in all lines of trade, though business generally
has been moie of a retail character than wholesale.
FHcoiti’firm under a good demand. Large sales
have been made. We quote Clear Bides, 18 @18)4 :
C R Sides, IS : Shoulders, 15 @ 15*.
BacetKG and Rove.—Stocks are ample, but trade in
this article is rather quiet. Prices In favor of buyers.
Coax—Searce an 1 demand light. Wo quote white,
1 20 ; mixed, 1 15.
Salt.—Demand good in the retail line. Large
stocks in r-avannah, with the arrival of several car
goes there has caused prices to decline. We quote
Liverpool at X 20 <3 2 25.
Tobacco—A good demand and light receipts have
reduced the stock of Tobacco considerably. No change
in prices as yet, though sellers anticipate an advance
soon.
Dommtic Goons—The demand is good in propor
tion to other branches of trade. We find no change
in quotations.

COTTON.-On Saturday, our market opened st. ada
and continued so throughout the day. Middlings
were quotable at 23 < @ 23M-
On Monday, the reports from New York and Llver
p?«i bang more favorable, it stiffened up,cloaing firm
at 23 i» @S3h for mtddliegs. U
On Tuesday, it continued firm, with unchanged
prices through ut tie day.
On Wednesday, the accounts from New York being
unfavorable, it was somewhat dull at 23X for full mid
dlings. •
Oh vesterday the reports from New York, and ths
stringency of the uugiey market being unfavorable, it
declined, closing dulfand nofninal at 28 @ 23 J» •
To-day, it is qufet with a moderate demand-sot fine
cottons—prices unchanged.
Sales, of the week amount to 3,102 bales, and re
ceipts. 3)81*.
FINANCIAL.—During the week ending thi<*3oth
Inst., there h-s been some demand for securities, es
pecially Georgia Rail Road Stock, which was active
at from 90 in ear y part of the week, to 93 later. Some
shares of Columbia & Augusta R. R., were sold at
flO 00 p-r share. Factory Stock was sold at a price
ranging from 145 to 148, but demand slackened with
in two days. Gold m >re steady than last week, owing
to demand from parties selling cotton, notwithstand
ing gradual decline in New York, buying. 34 @ 35 ;
selling. 37 @ 33. Silver, buying, 25 @ 30, selling, 80 @
34. Exchange, off to par. Bank notes steady at
