The Seaboard and Northwestern Rail road bill was reconsidered and passed. Bruton offered a resolution to adjourn to-day, to meet at Milled Seville on the first Monday in November. Tabled. McWhorter offered a resolution to ad journ sine die on the 18th instant. Passed. The bill to more effectually carry out the homestead passed. One section makes bachelors and old maids heads of families. The bill to create the office of Life In surance Commissioner was tabled. Bills passed to amend the act incorpo rating Darien, and to incorporate the towns of Roek Mount and Superville. The bill to repeal the act requiring the Ordinary of Tattnall county to keep his office at Reidsvllle was lost. . The bill to confer upon churches and other religious organizations the right to hold and occupy real estate was recommit ted. Speer offered a resolution to invite Presi dent Grant to the State Fair and extend to him the hospitalities of the State during his stay. Passed by yeas 37 to nays 7. Burns offered an amendment to Insert the name of General Sherman. Lost. HOUSE. The bill to regulate the practice of medi cine was reconsidered and recommitted. The bill to establish District Courts in Senatorial Districts (the counties of Effing ham, Glynn, Colquitt, Heard and Coweta exempted), passed by yeas 54 to nays 88. The bill to change the time of holding the courts of Bryan, Mclntosh and Effing ham counties was passed. A resolution to have three sessions daily was adopted. The Benate went into executive session on the Governor’s message asking the con struction placed upon the fourth section of theAkerman election bill. He says that when be signed the bill, he thought the ] managers to be appointed by the ordinary were subject to the advice and consent of the Senate, and believes the Senate would not have consented to the House amend ment but for the belief that all the mana gers would be subject to their consent and advice. Harris offered a resolution that the names of managers appointed by the ordinaries be submitted through the Governor to be confirmed by the Senate, the Governor to notify ordinaries. The bill to appropriate $500,000 to equip the State Road was, on motion of Bryaut, indefinitely postponed by yeas 85 to nays 45. Bryant exposed the Blodgett-Harris ad ministration. Tweedy remarked that it was fortunate that members <sf the Legislature were not accountable outside for what they say in side of the House. For the bill to lease the State Road, Bryant offered a substitute to sell It. Scott offered a substitute to lease the Road, with an amendment striking out the provision for the State to pay for improve ments when the road is returned. Adopt ed by 107 yeas to 2 nays. Scott’s amendment was adopted by yeas 90 to nays 31. It is stated that parties trying to pur chase the State Road have Issued stock to members of the General Assembly. President Yancey and Secretary Lewis of the State Agricultural Society, and their assistants, are busy. More entiles have been made than at the same period for any previous flair. The Governor has signed the Price Sa vannah Street Railroad bill. Among the Savannah incorporators- are Screven, Ar nold, Lamar, Constantine, Fitch, Russel], Dillon and Wylly. The death of Gen. Lee has cast a gloom over the whole .city. The Governor issued a proclamation this mornjng, requiring ordinaries to send their appointments of election managers to him. The Radicals are jubilant over the pros* pect of defeating an election In December. Bullock, Blodgett and Tweedy are active, caucus freely and frequently. Atlanta, October 13. SENATE. The line was changed between the follow ing counties; Jackson and Banks, Clinch and Coffee, Cherokee and Pickens. A bill passed to change the time of hold ing Bryan, Mclntosh and Effingham Superior Conrts. A resolution that the General Assembly adjourn to-morrow until Monday, in re-j spect to the'raeffiory of Gen. Lee, was adopt ed unanimously. The Governor vetoed the Savannah and Charleston Railroad bill, and the veto was sustained. * - HOUSE. A motion to reconsider Scott’s bill to lease the State Road was lost by a large majority. The State Road men favored re consideration. Resolutions relative to the death of Gen. Lee were adopted—Fitzpatrick voting nay and offering a protest against the "use of the Hall on Saturday, tendered for a citi zens’ meeting expressive of the feeling in regard to the death of Gen. Lee.. Fitzpatrick offered a resolution censur ing the Speaker for disregarding the rights of members. He got one vote. The Senate resolution inviting President Grant to the State Fair was concurred in. General appropriations are un ter con sideration. The salary of the Attorney General is fixed at $2,000, rhd It is made his duty to attend to the State Road cases. Atlanta, October 14. SENATE. A resolution to take a recess until the 35th of October was tabled. The Mitchell heirs’ claim was made the special order for Monday. Anew comity, called. Dodge, was made from Telfhir, Pulaski and Montgomery. Bills passed to incorporate the Georgia Magnetic Telegraph Company; to prevent the abatement of action on torts; to au thorize the Brunswick and Albany Rail road to erect a bridge across Flint river at Albany; for the relief of debtors under a renewal of contract; to incorporate the Griffin Manufacturing Company; to le galize certain acts of the Mayor and Coun cil of Darien ; to incorporate the Georgia Mutual Insurance Company of Savannah. Among the bills lost were the bill re viving the annual appropriation to the State Agricultural Society, and the bill for «ie relief of the securities of Isaac Brooks, Tax Collector of Muscogee county. The Senate, in executive session, con firmed the appointment of the Ordinary of Lowndes county of J. A. Dasher and Ed ward Outlaw (Democrats) as election man agers. HOUSE. | The general appropriation bill passed.— One section gives $16,000 to pay debts of the penitentiary, and one section, allowing the Governor to draw warrants In favor of parties not named in the act, was stricken out. The substitute to the bill to donate the Capitol at Milledgevllle „to educational purposes was taken up. Joiner offered an amendment donating SIOO,OOO to the education of the colored race. Porter amended, leaving the acceptance of a sum to the colored members of the Legislature.,- Tabled by 62 yea 9 to 54 nays. Washington, October 16.—Murray <& Stone were arrested at the instance of John Brown (negro), who was thrust from the circus rot insisting upon occupying the place reserved for ladles with gentlemen. The case, after a brief hearing, was dis missed. - ’ , . , Lexington, October 15.—Gen. Lee was buried to-day. The weather was clear and pleasant. Every house was draped. State dignitaries and many distinguished per sons were present. Officers and soldiers of the Confederate army acted as a guard of honor. Episcopal funeral service was read, but the sermon was omitted, In accordance with Gem Lee’s request. SUNDAY EVENING DISPATCHES. London, October 16.—1 t is credited here that negotiations are quietly but actively proceeding with a view to effecting a peace. The main obstacle now is the belligerent temper of the Parisians. A Rouen dispatch, Friday night, an nounces the approach of the Prussians. The National Guards are preparing to re sist them. Florence, October 16.—Thiers and the King had an hour’s interview. Naples, October 16.—The famous bri gand Pilone has been killed. Tours, October 16.—N0 additional offi cial news received from Orleans. It is understood that large forces are face to face near Fort St. Aubin. A general battle is imminent. Military authorities here are hurrying reinforcements forward. Garibaldi has been appointed to com mand the ii regular forces in the Vosges, with a brigade of Garde Mobile attached. Gambetta communicates Garibaldi’s ap pointment to Gen. Carribriels, command ing Eastern Department, and hopes Carri briels will support Garibaldi. A decree has been issued, subjecting generals who allow themselves to be sur prised, to court martial. Versailles, October 1% tia London.— Reports of French successes before Paris are untrue. They were invented for the purpose of rekindling the courage of the people. No new cases since the 11th. The St. Laurieut, which sails Monday, has already aboard 66,000 rifles, and as many revolvers, sabres and bayonets, and 5,000,000 cartridges. Lexington, October 16.—The committee of the V irginia General Assembly received no assorance that their request to bury General Lee’s remains at Richmond would be granted.
