boxes at each place where it is necessa
ry to preis the rollers together is a
spiral or oilier spring, onwhich a screw
acts, running through a cap or other
piece fixed on the cases, from wluah

means several pairs of rollers placed in

Connected with this rake is a method
for removing the cotton from e hopper,
placed above the rollers. When sev

kc screens or riddles placed in the
spaces between each pair, made- of

through freely, which fills below, into
inclih.ng troughs as soon ns they are
disengaged* which conveys :!iem off;
awl prevents them from mixing with
the cotton, which rlso falls below on a
floor.—ln addition to which are many
more minute parts, which etc too tedi
ous and difficult, also unnecessary lobs
defined.
These machines may be ustd in s
similar manner to other gins for simi
lar purposes. They sre durable and
may be in:.: le by any common mechan
ic, after seeing one.
Any person who may wish to use ths
above mentioned machines, can be ac
commodated by applying to the sub
scribe! in Augusta, either witp a Gin
and License, or n License alone. The
Price of a Gin with four pair of rollers
24 inches long, to woik by a horse or
any other impelling power, except by
hand, will be One Hundred and Hf'y
Dollars, the License alone, Ten Dollars ,
for each pair of Pullers.

up. But is necessary to add, that as
Mr. Stokes is determined to close all his
accounts during the present season,
those who do not nu ke settlements in
conformity to this mild Sc polite request,
w ill he hopes have the goodness not to i
consider him out of his duty, if he sends
them an official demand, by a public offi
cer, signed “ by the clerk cf the court,”
and k ‘ bearing lest in the name ol one of
the Judges,” or authenticated by “ a jus
tice of the peace, for the county afore
said,” ms the nature of the demand, end
amount due, may render one or the oth
er mode of proceeding, most adviscable.

Colt’s Purse.
ALL persons desirous of promoting
it good i acc of horses in this state,
are informed that a subscription is now
taking up for n COLT’S PURSE,
whirl) will he run for on the first Thurs
day in'November eighteen hundred and
eleven, by colts dropped in tha spring
of this year.
Each subscriber entering one colt at
FIFTY DOLLARS, with a forfeiture
of one half, in the event of not staging.
The mode and regulation as run
ning will be seen by application to Mr.
Josep* Lki, of Washing;or., or to
Mr. Georok F. Randolph, of Augus
ta, who hold subscription lists in theif
hands. The subscription closes on ths
first day of October next.
