"The Tonguo of Liberty” is tho title
of a late novel. Of course the heroine
is a married woman.
Woman
wants to put out a fire she doesn’t
heap on oil and wood. She throws
on water.knowing that waterquenches
fire. When a woman wants to get
well from diseases peculiar to her sex,
she shou’-i not add fuel to the fire
already burning her life av/ay. She
should net take worthless drugs and
potions composed, of harmful narcot
ics and opiates. 'They do not check
the disease—they do not cure it—they
simply add fuel to the fire.
Bradfleld’s Female
Regulator should be
taken by every woman
, or girl who has the
I slightest suspicion of
any of the ail-
the pain, it eradicates it.
It stops falling of the womb,
leucorrhea, inflammation
and periodical suffering, Ir
regular, scanty or painful
menstruation; and by doing
all this drives away the
hundred and one aches and
pains which drain health
and beauty, happiness and
good temper from many a
woman's fife. It is the one
remedy above all others
which every woman should
know about and use.

SMALL-POX NEAR ROCKMART.
The case of small-pox tlirce miles
from Rookmart on the fnrm of Mr. W.
T. Simpson should alarm no one. An
old negro woman—Jane Dnvitte, or
Rentz,—arrived from Arkansas Inst
week and soon developed small-pox.
Dr. D. M. Russell, chairman of the
Board of County Commissioners, took
the case in hand, nnd has dealt
promptly und effectually with the pn-
tient. He vnbolnntod nil in reach of
the case, or who had been exposed, nnd
put Mr. Jnok Whitehead, nn expert
small-pox nurse, In charge of the
premises, with guards to prevent the
pi CUIIOCO, WIVII guuiuo VU piCVL-ll
spread of the disease by oontnot.
The old negro woman is doing well,
has passed the oritloal stage, and is
now sitting up well on the way to re
covery. There is no need for alarm on
the part of the public. Tho case is
well in lmnd, nnd no danger will likely
result from the spread of this oontn-
gion.
It sliould be remembered that the
case is three miles in the country from
Rookmart, and no one sliould enter
tain the idea that there is any sort of
danger in the town of Rookmart.
The disposition of children largely

Rookmart is closing lip the best year
of her history,* just as the century is
closing out. Tile progressive spirit of
the town is fully on top, and the up-
to-dateness of things is in evidence bn
many sides.
Mr. Joe White is finishing a nice
cottage on College street near the In
stitute. wliioh will be ready for occu
pancy by the first of January.
On Marble street, whieh is tile main
business thoroughfare of town, tile
pnst year has witnessed many and sub
stantial improvements. The new post-
office building is of brink, and is a
cozy home for Uncle Sam's news stand.
Tile old Heaton store house has been
so improved and overhauled that one
now hardly recognizes in the hand
some new bank building the former
house. The bank is the pride of Rock-
mart, furnishing ample onpitnl for tile
business firms and enterprises, nnd
has at its head Mr. Buel Stark as cash
ier, a gentleman with experience nnd
judgment, nnd Mr. James Heaton,
assistant enshier, whose knowledge of
men and whose good business standing
give additional confidence to this
financial institution.
Messrs. 8nm Lee and W. M. Carlton
have one of the best business houseB in
town, and their new building adds
much to the excellent appearance of
the public square.
Mr. A. H. Graefer, the popular
grocer, tins enlarged and improved his
building, besides adding to his fancy
6tock of goods.
The big rook building of Mr. Jehu
Hogue is nearing completion, and is
one of the most desirable locations in
town. McRae & Roberts will occupy
it the first of January.
The new chapel on tile grounds of
