Every ar he has remained in Congress has added to his influence and augmented his usefulness. But in nothing has lie proven of greater good to the nation or more alue to his state than his brave and powerful stand for the common peo ple in the fight for better regulation of the railroads aud curbing the trusts of every kind by the Federal Gov- rnment President/ Roosevelt) has h d no stronger ally from the very first, in the Senate than Senator Clay in all such matters where the people’s interests conflicted with the selfish de mauds of corporate wealth, and he was one of the most advanced, out spoken advocates of the beneflcen legislation) which' President Roosevelt was able to force from the ultra el ement of the republican party by the aid of such good Democrats as Geor gia’s distinguished Senator. Ho has proven himself a faithful and able representative of his state; he sprang from the ranks of the com mon people, and their welfare has always been his greatest aim.
