Fielder, and this wedi has be n a veritable* "ditto,” though the cas.s have been of min .. importance. Officers W. L. Hunt and Albert Wright, charged with murder in the killing of Thcs. Powell, were re-, leased by the juiy lost Thursday, and these gentlemen were warmly con gratulated by their friends on their acquittal. Th? care of the Stit? against L? Read for the killing of Joe Hackney resulted in .the acquittal of the d - fondant by the Jury, after being out a very few minutes. Allen Hodge, a negro man who killed Sherman Blackman, his uncle, in Collat’d Valley, was convicted, and sent up for twelve years by Judge Edwards. The motion for a now trial by the counsel of Will Carter wiu rejected by Judge Edwards, and It is abated that the case will be carried to the Supreme Court. It will be remem bered that Carter was tried at tho August term for murder, the killing of Robert Read by Carter occurring last May. The Grand Jury re-cornvsued Monday and has b en busy grinding out Dills and winding up tholr investigation of the usual county matters.
