Washington; March 9;h.—Th? De partment of Commerce and Labor to day received a letter from Senator Clay, of Georgia, recommending th appo nlnunt of Hon. C. S Barrett, of Georgia, as on? of the exports to work abroad for the extension of the trade in cotton products. Before leaving Wash ington, Senator Clay urged that the Farmers’ Union be given recognition in the selection of the men to do this work. Chn Dr. Alexander Bowie, the self-styled "Elijah III" of Zion City fame, died Saturday. Cotton brought twelve and throe- eighths on th© streets of Cedartown last Monday. Mr. John V. Stubbs, on© of our hustling buyers, paid it to Air. W. M. Fincher, of Haralson county, for some high-grade cotton. This ?
