We, the Grand Jurors chosen and sworn fur the February Term, 1907, of Polk Superior Court, submit the following General Presentments:— The Jury, through a cjmmlttee.nmdo an ex&inltuitlon of the Pauper Farm und find that there are three whito Inmates at the present time, who seem to b© well cared for and satisfied with the treatment rec lived. We find that some of the roofs are In a leaky con dition. a* well an several of the windows In need ol new lights. We recommend that these and otiu r nec essary repairs bo made. We also find that there Is a lions* being erected on th? farm for colored in mates. Wo learn through tin* com mittee that six ttci-.H of t!u* farm have been sown to wheat; and that there are 46 bu.shels of corn, 15 gal lons of syrup, and 6 bushels of Irish potatoes now on h ind. The Jury through a committee ex amined the public buildings of the county, and find that ihe Court lions* is in a vory bad condition, considering the short space of time that has elaps ed since extraordinary repairs and al terations were made. Our attention has boon called to some leaks In the roof, and we suggest that the Com missioners are that th* sam are reiiaired at once. Th* dockets of th> Justices of the Peace and Notaries Public were ex amined by a committee appoint'd for that purpose, and report that they are, in the main, correctly kept with the exception of some of the officers in falling to date the cases on their crim inal dockets, which the law requires The dockets from tho 1518th District were not presented for examination. Boys ranging in age from 8 to 14 years are almost dally guilty of offenses, that in Justice t? th? community, would laud them in the penitentiary. «We fee! that this mat ter Is too serious to be overlooked, and earnestly ask that the parents take some steps. If possible, to check this disposition in the youth of our country. We recomm nd that the.so Present ments be published in th?
