Olmsted LaRoy, N. Y. ATORIK8 OF THE WAR. A very Interesting old lady Is In the city this week from Cedartown, Oa., on a visit to Mrs. Will Young. She is Mrs. J. A. Tucker, the widow of the late Capt. J. A. Tucker. A Bulletin man had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Tucker and to him she related some of her experiences during the war, which if published in full would be most Interesting read ing. Mrs. Tuckqr has been married twice, and both her husbands were prominent Confederate soldiers. During the war she was married to J. A. Lyon. Her husband went to war early In the campaign and was taken sick at Lowden, Tenn .where he lay for weeks In the hospital. The commanding officer being a friend to the Lyon family, notified Mrs. Lyon that her husband was dangerously 111 and would not probably live, where upon Hire at once went to him. She found the hospital In bad condition and her husband receiving poor at tention, therefore she sought, out the oniniuuder and got. permission to move him to Rome, Ga., where he could get better accomodations. En route to Home,Mrs. Lyon accompanied her husband, and when they arrived at that city Instead of going to the hospital she stole her husband out and went to the home of her father. There she nursed him back to life and later on moved him home, where it took several weeks for him to recover sufficiently to return to his company. In the meantime and while Mr. Lyon was at home, Mrs. Lyon received n letter from the army headquarters stating thnt her husband had been killed in battle. After returning to war Mr. Lyon was crippled and could scarcely get about with the other soldiers. In a big battle which lasted three days he was captured and sent to Rock Is land, III., where for eighteen months was kept a prisoner. Again Mrs. Lyon was notified that her huHhand was dead and Iris personal effects e sent to her. For four months she mourned him dead. One day a brother-in-law brought her a letter stating that, he had been In the Yankee harrncks ull the time and that he could not write. After this a regular correspondence was kept up, and after the war a happy reunion of the family was had. Two years later Mr. Lyon died.uml after a time his widow* was married to Capt. J. A. Tucker, who was also a Confederate soldier. They lived to gether until six years ago tonight, when their homo near Cedartown was destroyed by lire. When Capt. and Mrs. Tucker bad barely escaped from the building with their lives the hus band dropped dead, und for the second time this woman was left to face the world alone. For u lady of her years Mrs. Tucker Is enjoying the best of health, and looks really twenty years younger than she really is. She will spend a few days here and then go to Belton for a visit. We are sorry to state that Mr. John Garrett in very ill at this writing. Mr. R. B. Sorrells, a conductor on the Southern Railway, visited his par ents last week. Mr. R. B. Sorrells, father of J. T. and L. H. Sorrells, died at his home near Powder Springs March 19th. age 93 years. Miss Lizzie Garrett and Miss JIattie Camp were the guests of Miss Addle and Agnes Hutchins, of Aragon, Sun day. Mr. Marlou Garrett was the guest of Isaac Camp Sunday. Mr. Starling Williams va* shaking hands with frieuds at Bellvlew Sunday. 1 will ring off.
