A.; Ordinance to prevent the ran* : large of vicious dogs on th<* H’l'i-ihs of the City of Cedartown, and tv. ; .o.Ublt fa-nia i* dogs 'whil**- in neat Iron: the streets of said city. lit ii ordained l»y the Mayor an.i Council of the City of Cedartown, and it is hereby enacted by authority of the Fame, That from and alter 1 lie passage of this ordinance it shall lie unlawful for the owner of any dog of a vicious nature to run at large on the streetsor alleys of the City of Ce dartown. unless such dog be so muz- Lied as to prevent injury or harm to person or property by said dog*- Be it further enacted that no female dog while in heat, shall he allowed to run at large on the streets or alleys * f said city, and the owner thereof, or the owner o* any vicious dog whicn is running at large on the street^ or alleys of said city unmuzzled, shall be subject to the punishment prescribed by the laws against the offenders of the ordinances and laws of^ttfe City of Cedartown. Be it further enacted that the City Marshal or* other police officers are authorized, and it shall be their duty to impound and kill all such dogs, un less the owner thereof shall within twelve liburs after such impounding, pay the penalty inflicted by the Major of Cedartown. These Communion services have bet n observed here for many years, and they have become very popular with the people cf the surrounding country. The members of this church look forward with much i U nsure to this service and make ample prepara tions for it. The congregation Sunday was very large. The opening sermon whs preached by Elder B. Y. Tucker, fol lowed by Elder N. A. Hamrick. Elder U. S. Hamrick gave a short talk in reference to the ordinance of toot-washing. After fifteen minutes intermission the church came together for the communion service and the washing of feet. We hear | reaching and singing, hut this part of the ser vice, wo could only look at, and judg ing from what we could see It was a divine service. Then came the dinner, which was bountiful and enjoyed by all alike. These people around old Valley drove look good, healthy and ! hearty. Exciting Races on Fair Grounds and Dig Holiday Celebration. Cedartown will observe tlu* Glorious Fourth in grand style this year, and big crowds will throng our streets on this nutionul holiday. A few gentlemen have leased the Fair Grounds and have arranged to put on u race meet for three days,- Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 4. 5 and 0. There will he swift race , horses frpm Rome, Chattanooga, and other out-of-town points, besides a good number of l*olk county animals. Several attractions will anchor here for the festive Fourth, and every body will duly observe this general holiday at Indue. As excursion rates on all railroads will obtain for tills date, a large crowd will come to Cedartown for those races. TO CEDARTOWN CITIZENS. Our Mr. J. S. Miss Richardson took a special course in manual training at Knoxville hist summer. Our monthly debatr was held last Wednesday. Our school closts on the 20th of May. On account of the warm weather that we always have in June, we<hfnk i it better to close earlier and make it up next term. Lost week Miss Helen Janes took the fifth and sixth grades to see the Cuban Car. It was closely connected with history in the a grade.-; which Miss Janes teaches, and seeing this car proved very instructive lo them. There was a very good attendance at Sunday School last Sunday, al though t he fear of measles ke| t a good many at home. A negro girl about fifteen years old, named Pearl Will lams, was pushed from passenger train No. 22 near Fish last Sunday by two drunken ne gro men. and her skull badly crushed as t:he fell on the crosrtles. She was picked up and brought to Cedartown on train No. 41, and taken to the of fice of Dr. W. A. Chapman, the Sea board surgeon, for treatment. Libel lor Divorce.
