The colored girl, Pearl Willilam3, who was pushed from the train at Fish by a couple of drunken negroes a week ago last Sunday, died here Thursday. A diligent effort is being made to find her murderers. Mrs. Thos. Davis, of Cedartown, re turned home Thursday after a week’s stay with her mother, Mrs. Black. Col. John O. Waddell, of your city, was shaking hands with friends here one day last week. Miss Winnie Lawson spent a part of last week with her sister, Mrs. Charley Simpson, in Rockmart. Messrs. Jas. and Arthur Phillips were in Atlanta Tuesday night and Wednesday of last week. Mr. Ben Hays w'as here from Rock mart Tuesday. Several of our boys and girls went to Rockmart Thursday night to take in the show. Mr. John Atwood returned home Thursday after a two weeks stay with his son in Mississippi. A large crowd attended the funeral of Mr. Andrew Thompson at the Bap tist church here Sunday. Rev. Young, of Cartersville, was called to preach the same. Mr. Thompson was a faith ful member of the Baptist church, and was also a member of several secret orders, all of which were yxell repr»- sented at the funeral services. Squire A. W. Farrer was in Rock mart Thursday. Mrs. Miles Jones, of Rockmart, was the guest of Mrs. Geo. W. Howard Saturday. Mr. Pete Hammond has been quite sick for several days, but we hope to see him out again soon. Messrs. J. W. Rutland and Dock Ingle made a business trip to Taylors ville one day last week. Mr. Tom Baker, of Mississippi, is visiting his sister, Mrs. Ingle. Mr. Chas. Campbell, of Rockmart, was here Friday. Mr. A. C. Auchmuty went to Rock mart Sunday afternoon to witness the baptism of his daughter, Miss Inez Auchmuty, of Piedmont Institute. Sam Wright and sister, Mrs. Jane Davis, were in Cartersville Sat urday. Messrs. Brumbelow and McEwen were in Rockmart on business Satur day. Miss Lee Williams was in Lindale Sunday. Messrs. Jim York and Albert Camp bell, of Roqjcmart, w'ere here Sunday afternoon. Miss Nettie Simpson, of Rockmart, was the guest of Misses Marie and Winnie Lawson Sunday. Mr. Mat and Miss NelL Cochran were in our village Sunday. Mr. John Campbell, of Rockmart, w'as here Sunday evening. Quite a crowd came up from tersville Sunday morning to attend the funeral of their deceased friend, Mr Andrew Thompson. Arrangements are being perfected for an all-day song service at Pleas ant Hope on the first Sunday in June, which promises to be a magnificent success. The best singers in Floyd county have been invited and will be in attendance. Mrs. M. A. Kerr spent Saturday and Sunday with the family of Mr. T. L. Nunn, of Cedartowm. A very large number of our people attended services at the Primitive Baptist church neat; Wax Sunday. The second Sabbath In May of each year is communion and foot-washing da/ with the old Baptists of that church, and an Immense crowd is always in attendance. Mrs. W. E. Colquitt is visiting her sister, Mrs. T. L. Nunn, of Cedar town, who is, seriously ill. Bible Society will be organized here Friday night for the benefit of the young people. The object of the new organization will be the teaching of Scriptural lessons as taught in Sun day schools, though no literature ex cept the Bible will be used. The Creation’’ will be the first subject.
