To the Superior Court of Said County A. A. Pittman, .1. I. Harris, .1. S. Davitte, W. O. Cornelius and E. C. Kingsbery.all of said county and state, respectfully show: 1. That they desire for themselves, their associates,successors and assigns to become incorporated under the f ame and style of “The Polk County Farmers’ Educational and Co-opera tive Union Warehouse Company.” 2. The term for which petitioners ask to be incorporated is twenty years, with the privilege of renewal at the end of that time. ' 3. The capital stock of the corpora tion is to be five thousand dollars, divided into shares of one dollar each. Petitioners, however, ask the privi lege of increasing said capital stock from time to time, not exceeding in the aggregate fifty thousand dollars. 4. Ten per cent, of said capital stock of five thousand dollars has al ready been actually paid in. 5. The object of the proposed cor poration is pecuniary profit and gain to its stockholders. Petitioners pro pose to build and equip warehouses at such place or places in said county and state as they may deem proper. Petitioners propose to buy, sell, store and act as ageuts for others in buy ing, selling and storing cotton, corn, wheat and oats, in fact all classes of farming products, ou such terms and conditions and as said corporation may deem proper: to manufacture, buy, sell and hundle on commission and otherwise all brands and grades of fertilizer. Petitioners ask authority to do all necessary acts and things to erect and equip such buildings and to construct such roads, tramways and railroad tracks, aud to carry on the business of said corporation as may be desired and not contrary to law. Petitioners ask the privilege , of using a common seal; to sue and to be sued; to buy, sell, rent, lease aud to otherwise acquire, use and dispose of real estate; to borrow money aud secure the same by conveyance of its property, or otherwise; to loan money and take such security as may be deemed acceptable, and to make any and all other contracts that the of- i leers of said corporation may deem necessary or proper to effectually car ry out the puri>oses of the corpora tion. 6. The principal office and place, or offices and places of business of the proposed corporation will be in the county of Polk, said state. Said place to be selected by the stockhold ers of said corporation. Wherefore, Petitioners pray to be made a body cori>orate under the name and style aforesaid, entitled to the rights, privileges and immunities ana subject to the liabilities fixed by law. A SAD AND SUDDEN DEATH. t was with general shock and grief that this community learned of the unexpected death bust Thursday night of Miss Georgia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Lowther. She had been til for several days but her condition was not regarded as dangerous, though sufficient uneasiness was felt that a trained nurse had been brought from Atlanta the evening before her death. About \ o’clock the nurse itleed, a startling change in the breathing of the patient, and called to Mrs. Lowther, but before any mem ber of the family could reach her bed side the heart had ceased to beat. The deceased was one of Cedar- wn’s most lovely and lovivblo young ladies, as sweet of character as she whs fair of face. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church and actively interested In its mis sionary and other activities. A grad uate of our city public schools, she as a young lady of exceptional talent and literary taste. She was greatly loved by all who knew her, and her deatli is deeply mourned. Unostentatious in her daily life, in cordance with her wish no funeral service was held here except a brief prayer by her pastor, Rev. H. M. Quillian, just before the surviving members of her family left with the remains Saturday morning for burial at their old home near Baltimore, Md. Besides father and mother she leaves a brother, Frank, to mourn her loss, and the bereaved ones have the heart-feit sympathy of a multitude of friends in the great grief that lias befallen them. I beg to acknowledge receipt of check of The Travelers Insurance Co. for $2,030.62, same being in payment of life policy which my husband took out with you. This was $30.62 more than I expected to receive and your explanation is that, the amount was 20 per cent of the amount of prem iums which my husband had paid in and which his policy agreed to return to ills beneficiary at death. Hamby, the able super intendent of the public schools at Buchanan, has been elected to the superintendency of the Cuthbert schools at a salary of $1,200. He has also secured the election there of one of his most efficient teachers, Miss Eloise Cornelius of this place, to a position in the primary department at a salary of $60 a month, and her many friends here congratulate her most heartily on her good fortune.
