Dobbs had killed a man two years ago, and had escaped prosecution. He had borne an unsavory reputation, and It was about these matters that Dobbs charged Branch with making some remarks. Dobbs .accosted Branch on the streets, and a difficulty ensued. The two men clinched, Dobbs throw ing his left arm nronnd Branch’s neck and shooting him in the mouth with a 44-callbor pistol. Mr. Branch died Instantly, and Drtbhs was promptly jailed. Much indignation was felt at what was considered a deliberate mur der, the deceased being totally un armed. The Masonic Lodge took charge of the body, and sent it to Cedartown in charge of Mr. Jones, one of its loyal members, and did everything in their power to care for the remains of their deceased comrade. The Ma sonic lodge of Cedartown took charge of the body on arrival here, and de posited the remains with th impressive ceremonies at the grave. At the residence of Dr. Branch, an appropriate talk was made by Rev. C. K. Henderson, a large assemblage of neighbors* and family friends wit nessed the funeral obsequies.
