Bradford, Druggist, 50c. BAPTIST GENERAL MEETING. The General Meeting of the Folk County Baptist Association met with the church at Aragon Friday, June 28th, at 8 p. m. Rev. A. A. Pittman preached an impressive sermon from the Scripture, “Thou Shalt See God,” Adjourned to Saturday at 9 a. in., when devotional services were con ducted by Rev. A. A. Pittman and participated in by many members who seemed wonderfully revived. After ten minutes reccBj, an able and appropriate sermon was i reached by Rev. H. 11. Popham, who turned the meeting over to the Moderator for organization, which resulted in the re-election of Dr. D. M. Russell as Moderator and the election of I r. J. W. Brewer as clerk. A special committe composed of the moderator and clerk, Maj. J. A. Blance, Mr. G. W. Brock and Rev. A. q\. Pittman, met at 1.30 p. in. and selected the following subjects for dis cussion : 1st. Wluit does the church owe the community in which it lives? Led by Major Blance. 2nd. The coldness of the Churches; the cause and remedy. Led by Rev. P. M. Agan. 3rd. Temperance in ail its Hear ings. Led by Dr. J. W. Brewer. The meeting was called to order again at 2 p. m. The first two sub jects being called in order were earnestly and ably discussed by several members. After which the meeting adjourned to m» et at 9 a. m. Sunday, when a general discussion of the sub ject, ‘ Temperance in all its Bearings," followed. At 11 a. in., Dr. C. K. Henderson being unavoidably absent, Rev. E. M. George preached an impressive ser mon to a large and appreciative con gregation. At tlie2 o’c’ock srrvice, resolutions were adopted thanking Aragon church and community for their painstaking hospitality extended the delegation and visitors. After which all sang and prayed, "God be with you till we meet again” at Eastview church in Cedartown at 7.30 p. m. Friday before the 5th Sun day in September next. D. M. RUSSELL, Moderator. J. W. A PROCLAMATION By the Mayor of the City of Cedar- town. Whereas next Thursday, July 4th, is the birthday of our great nation and the day will be generally observed throughout the United States as a public holiday in commemoration of that great event which laid the foun dation of the foremost nation of the world. Now, therefore, I, John B. Lacy, Mayor of the City of Cedartown, do issue this my proclamation calling up on the citizens of Cedartown to lay aside business of all kinds and join with each other in celebrating the event in a manner becoming to our patriotic city.
