It has been the general opin ion that Judge Mose Wright, of the Rome circuit, would oppose Congress man Lee, but it is stated upon very good authority now that Judgo Wright will retain the Judgeship. The latest rumor is that Scab Wright will be Lee's opponent. But, on the other hand, It is said that the eloquent Ro- i man’s ambition is to succeed Senator 8teve Clay. Last Thursday was a big day Iu Cedartown, and our people are Indeb ted to the Cherokee Driving Club for a fine Fourth of July celebration. The crowds commenced pouring Into town early In the morning, and they stayed — interested and happy —until the sun was casting long shadows in the west. The day was given a rather bad start on account of the lateness of the Seaboard train with the Marietta Band, but the procession was all ready and waiting tor It when It 'did con»e, nnd It was a big and Jolly throng that went with it to the Fair Grounds. The procession was made up of the band, the Cedartown Rifles, the carriage with the orator of the day, Hon. T. W. Hardwick of Sandersvlile, Judge F. A. Irwin, Mayor J. B. Lacy, and President 8. P. Holloway of the Driving Club, followed by decorated and private vehicles of various kinds. The parade prize-winners were as follows: — Best Country Team Mrs. Eitello Jones Hardwick, $5. Best Town Team — C. B. Lynch, C. F. D. No. 1, $5. Vehicle bringing Largest Number People — Miss Helen Good's Tallyho Party, $5. Best Decorated Vehicle — Miss 1*8- Blo Smith, $10. Hardwick, the popular Con gressman from the Tenth district, who made an excellent address that was greatly enjoyed aud highly ap preciated by all who heard It. The hoHt of friends of Mr. Hardwick throughout the state are already speaking of him as “the next Gover nor of Georgia," and he added largely to the list of those friends during his visit here. After an intermission for dinner came the races, and every one of thorn was full of interest.
