Beasley. Messrs. W. M. Irwin and J. M. Tracy, were In Cartersville over Sunday to attend the funeral of a little grand child of the former. Mrs. R. M. Garrett, and her husband are spending their honeymoon since the burning of the big hotel at Mt. Airy. Mrs. Wm. Bradford and Col. J. C. Walker received a sad surprise and shock last week. They had no knowl edge of any Illness of their brother, Mr. Axson Walker of San Francisco, until they received a message of his death on the night of the 10th inst. Agee and family, who have been visiting their parents, Squire and Mrs. J. A. Wilson, returned Thursday to their home in Macon. Bent a good team up from Atlanta last week. Our boys rendered a good ac count of themselves, but the visitors took all three games by scores of 7 to 2, 6 to 3, and 3 to 2. Hogg and Houseal did some excellent pitching for Cedartown. Miss Margaret Sims entertained a party of young ladies very pleasantly at bridge last week Wednesday morn ing. She was assisted by Misses Cal- lie Smith and Shirley Sims, and little Miss Sara Holmse served the delicious refreshments. The first and conso lation prizes were both pretty hat pins, and were won respectively by Miss Josephine Chapman, and Miss Grace Wallace of Atlanta. Mrs. W. E. Booz gave a pleasant party Friday afternoon honoring her niece, Miss Nadine Jenkins of Hogans- ville. The young people enjoyed the ice cream and cake, and also the game of ring-the-peg.
