I regret exceedingly that the tickets for the whit# primary lost Sat unlay failed to reach the Rockmarl precinct in time for use, but beg to assure the public tlpit it was through no fault of the Executive Committee or myself. As chairman of the sub-committee having In charge the making of ar rangements ‘for th«se primaries, 1 have made it a practice to send tick ets and necessary blanks by hand whenever iiosslble, in order to save cx|M>nse to cundidaLs and to be cer tain of prompt delivery. I sent a lot of tickets for the Bocknmrt box last week Tuesday evening by Mr. Davltte Calhoun, who accidentally lost them on the train. He notified me by card the next day, and l at once mailed an- other lot, addressing them to Squire J. S. Davidson, Justice of the Peace of Rockmnrt district and one of tho nieu appointed to hold the election. Squire Davidson.however, did not help I to hold the primary, and I am told did not call for IiIh mall until Saturdny afternoon, so that the tickets laid in the Kockmart postofflce from Thurs day morning until that time. While, under the rules, none but "official bal lots” could be counted, yet the cir cumstances were such that the Ex ecutive Committee was unanimous In its action to have the Rockmart vole consolidated with those from the rest of the county. 1 understand that, probably through Ignorance of the truth about the mat ter, a few individuals have gone out of the way to Indulge in criticism be cause the tickets were not at hand in proper time, but the foregoing state ment should show that no blame at taches to the Executive Committee or myself for any neglect of duty or lack I of effort on this line.
