A very Interesting series of meet ings have been In progress at Pleas- unt Hope church, and the faithful pas tor, Rev. J. E. Smith, and Rev. Jesse Williams of Rome, in most zealous and worthy young minister,) labored with great earnestness and zeal, and as a result the church was wonder fully revived. Mrs. M. E. Martin, a most excellent lady of Mart, Texas, is visiting the family of Mr. Tom Peek. Rev. M. H. Peeples hus recently sold his Polk county farm near this place to Messrs. Short* r and Joe Pull- 1, of Seney. Mr. E. A. Holland, we are glad to state, is improving rapidly and will soon be entirely well. The Paptlst church at Seney will hold a series of meetings beginning on the fourth Sabbath, to be conduct ed by Rev. W. P. Whitlow. Mr. John Grimes and family visited relatives near Rome laBt week The firm of Highflcld & Greer has been dissolved, and all persons in debted to the concern are requested to call and settle. Messrs. Oscar and Homer Gaines, two excellent young men from Boaz, Ala., have been spending several days very pleasantly with the family of Mr N. B. Hunt in Collard Valley. Rev. M. H. Peeples and Rev. F. Mr. Anderson Gurley, of Aragon, was In our burg last Sunday. Miss Lizzie Garrett visited Miss Hattie Camp Saturday. Mr. Earl Reeves was In Aragon lust Saturday. Misses Hattie and Ellen Garrett were the guests of Misses Chessle and Savannah Adkinsou, Sunday. The protracted meeting at this place was a failure, we regret to say,and would be glad the people would take more Interest In religious affairs. The icecream supper at the home of Jas. Cash Saturday night was well attended, and all present report “au ice time.” Mr. H. Morris was In our vicinity Saturday. The school at Clark’s Academy is sick | flourishing. Prof. Carpenter Is the principal and Miss Mary Moore as sistant. Mr. G. A. Garrett and wife spent a few days In Rome last week. Mr. R. F. Brittain has been on the sick list for the past few days. We hope to see quite a large crowd attend services at New Prospect Sut- Miss Jessie Garrard, a charming young lady of Columbus, is visiting the family of Mr. J. T. Garrard. Miss Beatrice Callahan spent Thurs day afternoon very pleasantly with th family of Mr. N. B. Hunt in Collard Valley, where she enjoyed a nice Ice cream supper. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hogg, of Lake Creek, visited Mr. and Mrs. W. F. I’or ter last Friday and Saturday. Rev. Mr. Leonard, of Anniston, Ala preached an Interesting sermon at New] Home church last Thursday. The Farmers’ Club held another in teresting meeting last Saturday. The most Important matter discussed and disposed of was a resolution fixing the price of cotton at 15 cents. Mr. Form- by opposed the resolution for two rea sons: one was that nobody has any cotton to sell yet, and the other was the price was a mere bluff. W. M. C. ROCKMART NEWS. Mr. Hugh McCrary returned Sun day afternoon from Rockmart,where he attended the funeral of his nephew, little Hugh McCrary Cochran. Goodwin, of At lanta,visited relatives here last week Little John Cochran, the 26-months old boy of Mr. and Mrs. John Mc Creary Cochran, was drowned Satur day afternoon near Rockmart in a stock pond. He wandered away from the house and waded in the water. Ills absence was discovered, and sear*\i begun, and after some time the body was found. Miss Ruby Huffman, of Atlanta, Is the guest of Mr. G. L. M. Yarbrough’s family this week. Mr. and Mrs. E. Dean visited their uncle at Chattanooga last week. Misses Ruby Huffman and Clara Yar brough spent Saturday and Sunday at Lake Creek. The protracted meeting will begin at Ive Oak -next Saturday. Our beloved pastor, Rev. It. L.
