Adams "piked" the road from Ben edict’s to the city limits, he set a good example for permanent road construc tion, and the City Fathers were qvick to recognize a good thing when they saw it. Most of us are "from Missouri," and Mayor J. B. Lacy "wanted to be shown" before he spent any of the city's money on South Main street. As a result, the Lime Branch road improvement' by the county has been extended from the city limits to the Tanyard branch bridge, thus making a continuous good road for a long way on this leading thoroughfare in to the city. The work has beeh under the direc tion of Street Foreman P. C. Massey, and the job is a credit to both county and city. WESTERN UNION OFFICE OPEN. The Western Union Telegraph Com pany has opened up its office in Ce dartown, with Mr. W. W. Murphy, of Atlanta, in charge. The local office has been closed for about six weeks,—in fact, ever since Miss Mary Jones "walked out" with the striking boperutors all over the country, and there has been noth ing doing here in the way of hand ling any kind of business by wire. is not known whether or not Western Union has opened the Cedartown office in response to a numerously signed petition by our business men, asking the State Rail road Commission to force the com pany to keep open its office or show cause why it is handling no business.
