McQahey, who has been in charge of the city water and light plant the past few weeks, tendered his resignation some time since in order to accept a far more lucrative position near his old ho\pe in Vir ginia. He has only ^delayed his de parture awaiting the election and ar rival of his successor. The choice of the Water & Light Commission has fallen upon W. T. Hardy, an experienced electrician and clever gentleman from Atlanta, who arrived in the city Monday to take charge of the plant,Mr. McClahey leav ing Tuesday morning for Virginia. Mr. McQahey is a gentleman of rare talent and ability, and his resignation is especially regretted by the mem bers of the Baugh-Zimmerman Band, which was prospering nicely under his leadership. A SAD DEATH. Death (iu.lt a crushing blow in one of Cedartown’s best families Sunday afternoon when Louis, the bright fourteen-year-ol(l ton of Dr. L. S. Ledbetter, passed away after n couple of weeks illness from blood poisoning. The boy slipped on a wet board .while playing at .school and his ankle was scratched by a rusty nail. The us ual home remedies were applied, and the wound apparently healed up all right, but the poison from the nail finally developed with fatal results. Funeral services were field at the residence on College street Monday af ternoon, and were conducted by Hov. H. M. Quilllan in the presence of a large concourse of sympathing friends. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful, and his young schoolmates of the 7th grad attended the services in a body. Louis was an especially promising and manly boy, popular with hid schoolmates, and well liked by all who knew him. Dr. Ledbetter and his family have the heartfelt sympathy of their ho t of friends in this terrible bereavement that has fallen upon them. NEW MILLINERY GOODS!
