W. J. LOWORN. The current number of Uncle Re mus’ Magazine has a cover design most appropriate to the season, for it represents a rabbit in furious flight as though seeking to escape from an unseen hunter. But, unlike the reg ulation rabbit fleeing from the Nov ember hounds, this one bears a shield of Uucle Remus’ Magazine clasped to his breast and is clothed in the garb of a man. It is not difficult to imagine that he made good his es cape from the unseen foe and joined somewhere in the distance his well- known comrades—Brer Fox and Brer B’ar! The contents of the Maga zine fully sustain the interest created by its outside page. LETTER TO A. B. PHILPOT & CO., Cedartown, Ga. Dear Sirs: Say milk is worth 8c a quart. If one-third water and sold at 8c the milk in it fetches 12c a quart. If one-half water, 16c. If two-third water, 24c. If three-fourth water, 32c. That’s rather too stiff for milk; but watered paint is sold in all those proportions. Pure paint(Devoe) is so d for $175 a gallon. “Paint” at that price and one-third whitewash fetches $2.62 a gallon for the paint part of it. “Paint” one-kalf whitewash fetches $3.50 a gallon for the paint in It. “Paint” three-fourth whitewash fetches $7.00 a gallon for the actual paint it contains. The Farmers’ Union Warehous e over the cotton belt are rendering the business interests of the South a good service. The farmer generally Is stor ing his cotton to sell at a better price, or whenever it suits him, and is keenly disappointing the bears who have hoped to see the producer dump his whole crop on the market Instead of keeping it for sale at opportune times during several months. If the farmer refuses to sell his cotton, what are the gamblers and speculators going to do about It? MAKE IT YOURSELF. Now is the time when the doctor gets busy, and the patent medicine manufacturers r sip the harvest, less great care is taken to dress warmly and keep the feet dry. This is tlie advice of an old eminent au thority, who says that Rheumatism and Kidney trouble weather is here, and also tells what to do in caso of an attack, Get from any gojd prescription pharmacy one-half ounce Fluid E: tract Dandelion, one ounce Compound Kargon, three ounces Compound Syrup Sarsaparilla. Mix by shaking in a bottle ami take a teaspoonful after meals .and at bedtime. Just try tills simple home made mixture at the first signs of Rheuma tism, or if your back aches or feel that the kidneys are not acting just right. This is said to be a splen did kidney regulator, and almost cer tain remedy for all forms of Rheu matisin, which is caused by uric acid in the blood, which the kidneys fail to filter out. Any one can easily prepare this at home and at small cost. Druggists in this town and vicinity when shown the prescription, stated that they can either supply these in gredients, or, if our readers prefer, they will compound the mixture for them. That was a commendable piece of en terprise on the part of the Phillips Dry Goods Co. to exhibit the money and many of the articles given by the Cedartown merchants and business men as prizes for the best display of farm products by our farmers at the County F’air. The show window was viewed by all our people, and its ar tistic display elicited favorable com ment on all sides. It did much to inspire confidence in the ability and determination of the Fair manage ment to make good on all its prom ises. O. E. MARSHALL THE DP-TOWN DRUGGIST. Why Colds »r*- Umi^rouH. Because you have contracted ordinary colds and recovered from them with out treatment of any kind, do not for a moment Imagine that colds are not dangerous. Everyone knows that pneumonia and chronic catarrh have their origin in a common cold. Con sumption is not caused by a cold but the cold prepares the system for the reception and development of the germs that would not otherwise have found lodgment. It is the same with all infectious diseases. Diphtheria, scarlet fever, measles and whooping cough are much are much likely to be contracted when the child has a cold. You will see from this that more real danger lurks in a cold than in any other of the common ailments. The easiest and quickest way to cure a cold is to take Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. The many remarkable cures effected by this preparation have made it a staple article of trade over a large part of the world. For sale by Russell Drug Co. That “Cedartown spirit” is all right!
