We are glad to say that we have had some nice rains to fill up wells and cisterns, as water was getting scarce in our community. Mr. R. L. Hogg and wife visited relatives and friends in Byrds last Saturday. We are glad to say that Mr. S. It. Hogg is building a new residence near his old building. Mr. Everett Hogg, of Rome, Is spending a few days with his broth er, Mr. Bob Hogg. Mr. W. A. Tedder, of Silver Creek, bos been spending a few days in our community this week. Mr. T. S. Drummonds, of Rome, was visiting relatives here one day last week. Mr. John ! Caldwell and his sister, Nellie,visited relatives near Seney last Saturday. Cooper relative to the human stom ach has attracted such widespread attention that the public In cities visited by the young man has been Joined by many physicians In a dis cussion of his beliefs and medicines. Mr. Cooper says that human health Is dependent almost entirely upon the stomach. He says that no dis ease can be conquered without first alleviating all stomach disorders. He further says that most men and wom en of this generation are half-sick, owing to degenerate stomachs. And lastly, he claims that his Now Dis covery medicine will rejuvenate the human stomach In 90 days. Cooper has been traveling from one city to another, conducting In each what ho calls a campaign of education. For the past year he has met the public in the larger cities of the country, and his success has been phenomenal. Thousands of people have flocked to his headquar ters wherever he has gone, and the sale of his medicine has been beyond anything of the kind ever before [Witnessed. Possibly the most interesting fea ture of the attention this young man has attracted is what his army of followers, whom he has converted to his beliefs through his medicines, have to say on the subject. The fol lowing statements are from two well known residents of Chicago and B< “ ton, respectively, and the enthuslasi of these is characteristic of Cooper's admirers generally. Mrs. H. B. Mack, of 3201 State street, Chicago, says: “I have been suffering for 12 years from a com bination of stomach troubles, catarrh and constipation. (Icing The Central Railway Is making ex tensive improvements on this divis ion of |ts great system, nnd Is ex pending about half a million dollars In' Replacing the old rails with new eighty-pound steel rails, and putting In ne* ties. The division will be mado fully up to the standard when these Improvements are completed. "Then,” as Superintendent J. J. Cotter says, "if the Railroad Commis sion wants to send one of Its en gineers along this line to Inspect It, he is welcome, and he won’t find any bolts missing, nor angle plates loose, nor ties rotten.” Mr. Cottor states that the Im provements will cost the CeutraJ company at least five hundred thous and dollars. "We had to buy fifteen thousand tons of eighty pound steel rails nt a cost of $34.00 per ton,and then had to pay the freight on them from Pittsburg. We also had to buy 17,000 new ties at a cost of more than forty cents each, and we pay $1.25 per day and ,board to laborers to put thorn down." Onnulnit Proves Fatal.
