The Board of Stewards of the Meth odist Church has the plea.fant custom of meeting annually with one of Its members and enjoying an oyster sup per. This year they were entrained Et ANOTHER TEACHER ADDED. at the lovely home of Mr. Holmes, and the supper was/ an ele gant and greatly enjoyed spread. At the subsequent business meeting Capt. J. A. Peek was re-elected as chairman and Mr. E. B. Russell as secretary-treasurer. Miss Nell Watts was elected as organist and Mr. J. J Simpson musical director, with the following committee on music for the year: Messrs. L. 8. Ledbetter, Irwin, A. W. Stubbs, J. J. Simpson and Marvin Pittman. The past* year has been an especially prosperous one with the church, tho salary of the pastor, Rev. H. M. Quil- lian, haring been increased during the year from $1,200 to $1,350. Besides this salary In full, he and his family received a purse of $80 before their departure. They leave this morning for their new work at Covington,and are followed with the affectionate) re gards of the entire community. The salary of the new pastor, Rev. . P. Allen, is fixed at $1,500. He and his family are expected to ar rive tomorrow evening from Elberton. and will receive a most cordial wel come. Mrs. H. H. Arrington has as her at tractive guests her slaters, Mrs. A. W. These grades are now separated', and Miss Cora Anthony, the uaclm;^>f the com bined grades, takes the 8th grade into the High School, tiius giving four grades and three teachers in that de partment. Prof. Purks has employed Mrs. Mary A. Cral b to take charge of the 7th grade, at a Salary of $50 per month. The grade stkrts out with 22 pupils,but it is hoped that it will soon increase in numbers. Knight congratulate him most heartily on his re-election as Mess enger for the Democratic minority in Congress in the caucus in Washington last week. He started as a page in Congress fourteen years ago, and has made himself one of the most efficient and popular employees of the House. He Is one of Cedartown’s best young men, and the congratulations on his re-election are many and sincere. Prof. Chas. Henderson, of Newnan, is a great believer in clean school ath letics, and the crowd of young men whom he brought up with him for the Thanksgiving game of foot-ball were happy over his contribution of $5 toward their expenses.
