Very little Interest Is being taken In the municipal election this year from the fact that there i» no opposition as far as the principal offices are con cerned. Mr. R. O. P*tts for Mayor, and Messrs. L. S. Ledbetter and A. M. Dunn for Aldermen from the 2d and f»th Wards respectively, have no op position. And this is as it should he, for they are excellent men for these places, and will give the city a thor ough business administration. Mr. Pitts Is the-prisldent of the Com mercial Bank, Ur. Ledbetter Is the vice president and assistant secretary of the Georgia Fire Insurance Co., Mr. Dunn is the clever agent of the Cen tral Railway, ai d all three rank n- mong our best business men. There are four vacancies on the City School Board, with seven candi dates to fill them, as follows: Mr. W. C. Wheeler, a popular Central Rail- engineer who is interested in securing that much needed £«bool in Eastview; Mr. G. D. The people of the eastern part of the city are very much In earnest In wanting a primary school in Eastview, and they have done me the honor of asking me to run for election as a member of the City School Board. Af ter due consideration of the matter. I have decided to make the race, suhr ject to the white primary next Wednesday. - Our children in Eastview are obliged to cross a dangerous network of rail way tracks In going to and from school, and the distance is far too great for the little ones to go. I be lieve there should be at least a pri mary school built there, and I ask the votes of the progressive and fair- minded citizens of the town. A number of my friends have asked me to make the race for membership on the Board this year, believing it only right that the large class of workers to which I belong Is entitled to rep resentation—as well as taxation. The revival meetings at the Pres byterian church, which tfave been in progress for the past ten days, came to a close last evening. Rev. J. G. Patton, D. D., of Decatur, has been in charge of the meetings, and has given our people some of the best sermons ever heaid litre. Pittman tied the nuptial knot, and they have the congratulations of many friends. The Hard Wood Lumber Company is the name of a new lumber company at Fitzpatrick, Ala., of which our fel low-townsman, Mr. W. E. Wood, is president and Mr. J. B. Fite Is sec retary and general manager.
