The grants are to assist the de partments with their public safety efforts and can be used for training and to purchase protective equipment or other necessary items. The following received grants: * Crawford County Fire De partment, $30,000; * Houston County Fire Depart ment, $40,000; * Macon County Fire Depart ment, $30,000; * Marion County PTre Depart ment, $30,000; * Muscogee County Fire De partment, $15,000; * Peach County Fire Depart ment, $30,000; ! - Schley County Fire Depart ment, $15,000; * Talbot County Fire Depart ment, $30,000; * Taylor County Fire Depart ment, $30,000. “Flint Energies* mission is not just to provide electricity, but to improve the quality of life for our consumer-members and the communities we serve, and that begins with our first respond ers," says Marian McLemore, Flint’s Vice President of Coop erative Communications. “We appreciate our first re sponders and the work that they do to keep our communi ties safe. The Flint Energies Foundation wanted to express our deep appreciation through the grants given to these de partments,” says Joanne Hamlin, Flint Foundation Chairman. The Flint Energies Founda tion provides grants to local non-profits such as these using money donated by Flint Fner- Harrison, Grovania; Pat Bailness, Warner Robins; Traci Kemp, Warner Robins; Betty Chase, Oglethorpe; Roger Sinyard, Mauk; and Ian Russell, Fort Valley. gies consumer-members through Operation Round Up®. The electric cooperative’s members contribute $175,000 annually to the Flint Energies Foundation, which supports worthy causes in the 17 coun ties it serves. Operation Round Up is a way for participating members to support multiple charitable organizations by simply allowing Flint Energies to round up their bills to the nearest dollar. Donations to Operation Round Up, which average only about $6 per year per member, are tax deductible. About 40% of'Flints member ship participates in Operation Round Up, but that percentage continues to decline.
